My best Murph3 impression

Was throwing this idea around with some buddies.

Yanks get: BJ Upton, Chris Johnson, David hale

Braves get : A-Rod

Money ends up about even. May be we throw in another decent pitcher/hitter in our minors to cover the difference in money (about 9 million when you figure in CJ's 2018 buyout)

We can either sign/trade for another 3b or let Peraza play 3b. Move Gattis to LF, move Upton to RF, put J-Hey in CF.

Isn't murph3 until you add someone like Gosselin or Pena in the deal. Or even Terdoslavich.

Murph will try to convince you that any of those 3 as a throw in would be the deal breaker that gets it done.

That trade makes no sense. The whole point of trading BJ or CJ with a decent player is to free up salary.

I laud your efforts carp, but you didn't make it an eight-cornered deal which is kind of a murph3 trademark.

I think we get next to nothing for either M. Upton or Johnson. I think we end up paying about $10 million per year for someone to have M. Upton be their 4th OF.

BJ + Gattis for McCann

Yay or nay?

Swap Gattis for Bethancourt, sign Rossy and I'd call it an offseason

CF - Heyward
RF - Justin
1B - Freddie
LF - Gattis
C - Mac
3B - Johnson
2B - La Stella
SS - Simmons

Bench
Gosselin
Rossy
Cunningham
Bonifacio
Terds.

I'm gonna murph3 one here

Lets consider some potential landing spots for Upton becaus team has questions at CF. To me 2 teams who may have holes are the Tigers and Blue Jays. Tigers I don't see happening cause they're saving up money for Scherzer. Jays are an interesting option though. Rasmus is a FA, Gose is eh so far. They also have Melky hitting FA so Bossman for RF is an option as well if they can't plug other holes. Jays have some bad contracts. Buerhle is signed for a 1/20 Reyes 3/66 Dickey for 1/14 with an option.

Then we look to teams who are desperate for a catcher. I see 4 teams who come up. Dodgers, Rays, Rangers, and Red Sox, Sox have a prospect at C so they may be out. Dodgers and Rangers would be the ones I look into, as they're ones with money.

So this is my 3 way trade.

Braves trade - BJ, Bethancourt, Chris JOhnson, TLS and Graham
Braves recieve - Dickey, Alexander Guerrero, and cash

Jays trad - Dickey and Cash
Jays receive - BJ, Graham, and prospect from Dodgers

Dodgers trade - Guerrero and prospect
Dodgers receive - Bethancourt, Johnson and TLS

Sign Headley, sign Aoki, keep bonerfacio, Floyd and Medlen

3B - Peraza
RF - Jason
1B - Freeman
LF - Justin
C - Gattis
2B - Guerrero
SS - Simmons
P
CF - Aoki

Bench
Bonifacio
Backup C
Terds
Cunningham
Bat (don't really care)

Rotation
Julio
Wood
Minor
Dickey
Floyd

Bullpen
CL - Kimbrel
SU - Walden
SU - Medlen
MR - Carpenter
MR - Shreve
MR - Russell
LR - Varvaro

Actually now that I think about it, this is what ole Murph would do.

Braves:
Chris Johnson, B.J. Upton, David Hale, Phil Gosselin, & Terdoslavich

Yankees:
Martin Prado + Cash

To put on my murph cap, this trade makes sense because the Yanks need starting pitching, Gosselin to replace Prado's super sub, Terdoslavich just because, C.J. to play 3rd, Upton because his career will revive in the AL East.

Braves get Prado back + Cash just because I don't know why.

If this is the offical Murph3 thread then I'm going to make my Murph3 offer as well.

B Upton, Simmons, Simms and LaStella for Tulowitzki. BJ helps offset some of the cost.

J Up and Gattis for Chris Sale and Adam Eaton.

Sign Marlon Byrd to a one year contract. Not ideal but it's realistic given my trades.

Heyward
Eaton
Tulo
Freeman
Byrd
Johnson
Peraza
Bethancourt

Rotation

Sale
Teheran
Wood
Minor
A plethora of options.

World series winner = Braves.
