Yes we do have a larger population, but all the common excuses are disproven by our Northern Neighbors. They have guns, they hunt, they do all kinds of things. There's something much deeper that's causing the US issues, it's not guns or not enough guns, or anything like that. It's something deeper.

I would agree with this. I think as a whole or society is morally bankrupt. The whole family unit has dissolved into something that doesn't even matter. Kids are being raised by television and to me that is the biggest issue in America today.

Sure, but wholly omitting the key factor frequency of that killing, to make some grand point (using a that's case much-more-statistically-aberrant in context, and thus helps evince zito's point), is pretty absurd as well.

It may be a key factor in the argument you are trying to make, but not mine.

My singular point was that guns are deadly, although I guess my parenthetical aside shifted the weight of the comment I was trying to make.

There's absolutely nothing 'aberrant' about that (original) assertion within the scope of the shooting in Calgary, though.

Or the school shooting for that matter.

Do we agree on that?

I haven't really attempted to make any point in this thread—except that you guys only got into archery after reading Hunger Games—so I really just jumped into the discussion to critique your splashy-but-insubstantial use of newspaper headlines/front-pages, which didn't really rebut (or even speak to) the point zito was advancing.

I will, without hesitation, agree that guns are lethal, and add that they are all-too-easily so; that's the primary reason I wish there were a lot fewer of them in this country, and in the world.

I also want to add that I don't think $14.99 for a 14" pizza with a liter of soda is actually that good of a deal.
 
When asked about their reaction to more taxation and regulations on guns, 9 out of 10 bad guys said "Aww fiddlesticks!" and picked up 9 to 5's while becoming art majors at their local universities.

When asked about their reaction to more taxation and regulations on guns, 9 out of 10 bullied/depressed teens said "I was going to shoot up the school, but then I remembered how much paperwork daddy had to fill out and how his box of ammunition cost him about an hours pay at work". The kids ended up getting their self esteem back due to the good psychiatrists at Obamacare and went on to drink large amounts of Mountain Dew while getting really really good at xbox.

But still, there is an issue we must look at about abuse and bullying. Black kids don't do this schit, only white kids, why?

There are also countries that are less populated, have stricter gun laws and worse gun crime than America.

You can't compare America as a whole to Canada. You can compare Wyoming, Idaho, the Dakotas to Canada (they line up demographically) but Canada isn't 40% minority, which is where the majority of the murder rate comes from.

The issue isn't murder, there are countries I can point to that poke holes in your issues. Our problem isn't minorities, or poor, other countries in the world have those same issues (feel weird saying that with minorities but I'm keeping in context that it was used) and don't have this problem. You can't just say, we're America so **** you to the logic, there's a deeper issue, I'm 99% sure the deeper issue is that we're sold fear. When you're sold fear you get a good feeling from things that make you feel safe, like guns. Not having a healthy relationship with it as a tool but instead relying on it like a crutch. Not a professional of course, just something I've noticed in human behavior.

but hey "we got freedom" here cause i would hate to have little gun crime, socialized medicine and a gov't that tries to work to make a better place for all residents in the country. that sounds terrible. we should never do that ehre

the random shootings are a small piece of the overall gun homicide problem.

Sadly, I don't think you can stop the random shootings. You can't stop Crazy.

No developed country has the random killings that we have here. There could be some underlining factors as to why, but everyone of us have wanted to kill people before and we didn't. It comes down to personal responsibility.

take the "shootings" out of the equation and what we have is a big spit ball fight in our school cafeterias and angry people throwing popcorn at one another in strip mall theatres
