Kevin Seitzer New Hitting Coach

Looks like a good hire, hope he does well.

But to think that just because a hitting coach suggests that his hitters make more contact and get on base more frequently is the magic formula is naive. Folks....it's about our personnel. Always has been. Get better hitters if you want to see a change.

Exactly!! Kevin Sietzer isn't going to make BJ Upton suddenly regain his fastball bat speed. Maybe he can get into Andrelton Simmons's ear and get him to not swing out of his shoes everytime, but our previous coach tried and couldn't reach him.

"The Braves also hired Jose Castro, 56, as an assistant hitting coach, keeping the two-person arrangement Atlanta had for three seasons with Greg Walker and assistant Scott Fletcher. Walker resigned and Fletcher’s contract was not renewed after the Braves finished next-to-last in the majors in runs."

...

Castro was on the Cubs’ major league coaching staff last season after 25 years as a minor league hitting coach in four organizations including the Marlins, where he worked with Gonzalez.

Bits of note from the AJC article.

Giles
Chipper
Andruw to some extent.
Drew

I'm sure we could go back and there are others.

Probably half the players/coaches who leave the Braves get something bad said about them after leaving. Leo being a great example. After Leo left all of the sudden he became difficult, and yada yada yada. We did it with other coaches too.

Drew was bad mouthed from other teams.

You'll have to refres my memory on what was said about Druw.

The organization never said anything bad about chipper.

Giles was a loser.

This idea the Braves talk bad about guys that leave is a farse.

Please source anything g said about any coach other than leo.

In a moment of suspended reality suppose the new hitting coaches could result in Bj having a .250 ba with 20 homers and steals how much could this offense improve?

So an alcoholic, cancerous tumor of a teammate.
Never happened with Chipper.
Not really with Druw? Wtf.
And JD Drew was a known douche. Mega douche.

None of it happened. People are just making crap up right now.

You're right... BJ and Uggla performed at the same level in Atlanta as the rest of their careers...

Johnson has never been good... Will give you that... But Heywards approach has slipped under the tutelage of Walker also. If what you claim is true there is absolutely no reason to have hitting coaches I guess. Guess he was fired for zero reasons.

Oh and players aren't going to throw a coach under the bus even if it is a problem... That's a good way to get off a team and have a bad rep. Of course they will publicly say he's not the problem when he's still the hitting coach.

I certainly respect your right to have your opinion, however, I strongly disagree that Walker had anything to do with the downfall of BJ and Uggla. I doubt many will place blame on the hitting coach for these two bums. Hitting coaches aren't miracle workers. Just an extra set of eyes and a tool to help get as much work at their trade as they wanted to put in.

And yes, I think Walker was pretty much fired for zero reason, though I understand it. But someone had to take the fall and it's easier to fire coaches than players. I know I'm playing the devil's advocate here, but most will agree that last season we simply had some unforseen regression and our roster is just not balanced with the necessary types of hitters. That will have to change.

If Walker were here, he'd say, "I wasn't fired. I resigned!" :catfight:

Are you talking about the fans ... or the team (players) ... or the 'organization' (FO/Journalists/Players)?

The implication that has been made is that the Braves organization which I exclude the players from.

Its just a false statement the Braves bash people that leave other than Leo and now some things about Wren.

Leo was considered a God while he was here and was awful when he left. Lets see if Wren does naything of note when he leaves.

Not true, the Braves have a track record of doing this as Zito, Rico and others have noted with a lot of names (see the past threads on the topic). One name I added to that list of note was John Smoltz.

lol...things always come to light, with every franchise, after certain guys leave. I love how this is somehow exclusive to the Braves to some on here.
