Definitive proof that the Braves need to resign David Ross

Compelling, but I'm more worried that his grit maturity and leadership have regressed as he's gotten older. Anyone have the numbers?

I'm sorry Lairdass couldn't carry David Ross's jock strap.

I was one of Wrens biggest supporters until I've learned what transpired behind the scenes, but this move baffled me when we let go Ross because he wanted 2 years only to turn around and sign the inferior Laird to a similar contract.

While Ross's numbers slipped with Boston, he is and was a better backup option in every form to Laird. Laird might have a slight edge in arm strength but Ross was an elite game caller and pitch framer, has significantly more power at the plate, has better discipline at the plate.

Depending on what direction we go with at catcher, but if we need a backup id love to bring Ross back.

Laird and Ross weren't that comparable. Laird signed 2/3, Ross signed 2/6. Which doesn't seem like much money, but the Braves need every million. WE may not have for example been able to bring in Harang if we were tighter to our budget cause of Ross.

Ross's numbers slipping may have to do with him being really old, but it also had to do with him posting pretty much the best seasons of his career in Atlanta, sometimes we get the most out of a player and they move on, it happens. Laird wasn't that much worse than Ross, he was certainly a better value (ross making 6M more should have more than a 0.4 fWAR advantage) that was hardly a move that the Braves should regret.

Also in what universe does David Ross have more discipline that Laird? Ross's career BB% is 10.5 to a K% of 27.5, Laird does walk less at 7.1% but Ks way less at 18.1. Defensively Ross is superior, that's not really debatable, not that Laird is bad at everything, but he didn't do the small things well, like framing. He was better as a fielding catcher.

You clearly didn't watch the video. The video. According to Bill James, the video alone is worth 4.2WAR.
