Braves Trade Heyward, Walden to Cardinals for Miller and Tyrell Jenkins

Some of these Hart quotes... just irks me that much more:

So Hart thinks he got us a #3 or 4 starter. Well done, sir!!

Trade makes more sense. They went the Kotchman route. They wanted a major league ready pitcher who was under control. Whether that was the most talented offering or not. That's what they wanted.

Like?

Walden wasn't our best reliever, either.

Jenkins has as high of a ceiling as anyone in our system. High upside guy.

Hell if i know, they could have waited and let the market play out.

Meant 2nd best RP.

Still a horrible trade, Jenkins hasnt been healthy in awhile, you dont like Heyward and are happy he's gone.

I also don't like all the "I just don't know" when talking about Heyward staying. His job is to know.

Maybe they don't want to come out and say that Heywards demands were unreasonable in their eyes. Heyward is going to get paid more than the Braves were going to be able to pay him. I think its a move that makes sense considering they've already tried to extend him. His defining skill is one that diminishes faster than any skill. Lets see if he learns how to hit better in the future.

oh please, you're smarter than that.

everybody knows what was what that needs to know.

the braves don't want to come out and say that heyward isn't worth the money. the player doesn't want to come out and say that yeah, it's all about the benjamins. this is how this game is always played. honestly can't believe this is even a discussion. do you honestly believe the braves didn't have any idea what heyward wanted? that's the dumbest thing i've ever heard.

And if Heyward wanted to stay here oh so badly why didn't he approach the front office with an offer he thought was fair.

he's got all of 47 starts in the outfield in his major league career. he had basically a month's worth of starts in left in the minors.
holy smokes. the guy may be awful, but he can learn. left field is about the easiest position to play in baseball. it's really not that hard if you can see.

With Gattis' back, him in LF is a disaster waiting to happen.

Development is also a big sign to look for in a young SP. Look at the improvements Miller made in the 2nd half. Miller currently is a solid middle of the rotation starter with the ability to get much better. He's got legit front line stuff.

Again, you are acting on John Hart's beloved assumptions. Which is totally your prerogative, but it's lacking in a full consideration of the circumstances IMO.

Come on Hawk... I think we all know the kind of money Heyward will get... wake up

Then you say "Based on our conversations, we didn't feel we were going to be able to come to terms."

Not what he did say - which was basically:

"I'm not sure if he wanted to stay or not, so we covered our asses and found a team willing to give us their 6th best pitcher for him."

That's richly ironic considering your total misunderstanding of Jason Heyward's development as a baseball player.

heyward has five full seasons and his fifth was worse than his fourth which was worse than his third which was worse than his first.

if miller is still going backward in five years, then you'll have an equal comparison.

Actually I like Heyward, I just realize his value to the rest of baseball isn't 3 top 10 prospects and you do not.

Hell if you know? You just said they didn't take the best offer! LOL
