Braves Trade Heyward, Walden to Cardinals for Miller and Tyrell Jenkins

Yes, I use actual runs scored to measure past performance. FIP is a prediction tool but games are won and lost based on the actual score, not what FIP thinks the score should have been.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with using ERA. Sometimes teams will position a defense knowing their pitcher is better at hitting specific spots with their pitches. Again, the heavily SABER inclined refuse to use context at all time.

Other than a guy like Bautista usually hitters figure it out earlier. Heyward just couldn't battle his awkward swing.

WTF are you even talking about? PLENTY of guys don't hit their consistent offensive stride until later than 25, ESPECIALLY in this kind of era where pitching is dominant. Heyward HAS done it before.

To listen to some people on here, I honestly wonder what the Cardinals see in the bum.

Heyward is a damn good player with the potential to be great. Problem is he was never signing here long term. More power to him because he is going to get his money but the Braves got great value for 1 year of Heyward.

I don't think Heyward would come out and bold faced lie about it. If he did refuse a deal that the Braves offered what point would it serve to come out and say he was never offered a long term deal? Someone is not telling the truth and I would bet it's the good ole boys club.

Players use the "they never offered me a contract" excuse when they price themselves so highly that there is no point in offering a contract.

Sure he has done it before but he has also been average for much of his career as well. We can't just think about his good times and not recognize that he had awkward hitting mechanics which caused a lot of inconsistency.

Proof?
Jason was very upfront and frank in his interview after the trade. All Hart had was "well I assumed" and "I didn't see it." I'm not even saying Hart was lying. I totally believe he foolishly assumed. I don't see why I should ASSUME Jason is lying.

Do you not think that when he signed his 2 year extension they exchanged numbers?

See it both ways but if Heyward wants/gets 25 mil a year, thats alot of money.

Maybe he reaches his potential with the Cards, but i guess time will tell.

Because you know that's what he wanted?
Apparently Hart wasn't even sure what he wanted. But you are.

Do you really think Hart is going to come out and say what Heyward demanded. That type of stuff always stays behind close doors. Come on man, stop being so emotional and think rationally. I wanted HEyward to be here forever but the writing was on the wall.

CJ Nitkowski said he thinks he'll get 22-25 mil a year.

An elite 26 year old defensive right fielder, players that age will make bank with the new TV deals.

I'd be surprised if he got less than 20 mil a year.
