Braves Trade Heyward, Walden to Cardinals for Miller and Tyrell Jenkins

Jason isn't really as thick as Griffey Jr though. He's huge but I wouldn't say he's jacked like Uggla or big like Justin, he's still lanky.

I think in the short term the Braves are going to go all out run prevention. Yes, I am aware that trading Heyward and potentially putting Gattis in LF is a complete contradiction of that but I still believe in teh short term that is going to happen.

I actually believe that we are going to trade Gattis for a hopeful haul and extend Upton. Then hopefully Moncada can be in play for the Braves and stick him in RF. Maybe Peraza takes the second base job at ST and we find a way to dump CJ and sign Headley.
 
I'd rather pay $20 mil and risk him staying only the player he is than give 31-year old $15 mil and another guy $7 mil that have much lower floors. I'm just assuming here, but I don't understand their plan right now. They're going to have to take a gamble or combination of gambles on some players at some point, and many feel Heyward is as good as any gamble, value-wise, you're likely to find for the same price.

I never saw Griffey in person so its hard for me to gauge but based on what I remember from TV Heyward is considerably bigger than Griffey.

Those are a lot of dominoes that have to fall when before the TLS trade we just needed a CF and a platoon partner for Johnson to be a contender again.
 
Junior really looked like a skinny kid his first few years in the bigs. Heyward probably hasn't looked like a skinny kid since he was 9. I don't think it's his workout regimen—I think he's just a big dude. He'll bulk up and slow down in a few years, but he's just more massive than Junior was.

And a few starting pitchers. Now we have some of the starting pitching covered but have to find some more positional plaeyrs.

I just like the deal because I never felt Jason was going to sign a long term deal here. The money is just too great on the FA market.
