GDT: 7-29-13 Rockies at Braves, Feeling a little Beachy.

Here we go. First, Beachy is back but I'm still worried what he can contribute this year. He is a great pitcher but will he be able to pitch well over the next 2 months? Second, why start the rookie catcher over the veteran catcher(s) who might have been better "nursing" Beachy through this first start? Third, getting Downs was great but I hope Wren doesn't avoid another trade. This team can really use another terrific reliever since Carpenter is showing his true ability. Fourth, I've got to believe there's a good starting pitcher out there not named Peavy that some team won't abuse us to trade; hope Wren can find him.

PS: Gattis is just not hitting like he was before the DL trip. Disappointing.

Gattis had stretches like this before he went to the DL when he got occasional extended playing time. That's why I'm not sold on him as a regular yet

This part right here is what really irritates me.

At least the Braves' pitchers are doing a good job depressing the averages of Chris Johnson's batting-title competitors.

I propose a trade for Tim Lincecum.

And since Gattis came off the DL he's hitting .286/302/.381 (.683). So he's not hitting for power but he's carrying a much better average. But still not getting on base enough.

the way I see it we should trade for a starter if we can get one better than Maholm for "for value". Don't know if there's a deal there or not. Peavy's better than Maholm but what's the price? If its just "pay him" I'd do it. Sox might too if nobody offers anything better.
