OFF-SEASON ROSTER MOVES THREAD

Dave O'Brien cracked a KD Lang joke earlier on Twitter ... and then proceeded to try and defend her music.

I guess Pena saw the writing on the wall, this is from MLBTR:

"Utility infielder Ramiro Pena has elected free agency after the Braves outrighted him off the 40 man roster. Pena owns a career .244/.288/.330 line over 610 plate appearances in parts of six seasons. Capable of playing shortstop, second, and third base, the 29-year-old offers plenty of flexibility."

Matt Eddy also reports: Atlanta Braves
Signed: RHP Odalvi Javier, RHP Bladimir Matos, LHP Kelvin Rodriguez, C Carlos Centeno

#Braves think they could lose 1-2 players in Rule 5 draft. Didn't name names, but pitchers Cody Martin, J.R. Graham are obvious candidates.

If it happens it will have been one of those unnecessary events. No way Gil or Cunniff would have been selected.

Fixed.

One can never be sure. I'm not comparing Gil to Johan Santana as a player, but Santana was drafted in the Rule 5 (traded to the Twins the same day) back in 1999 and his highest level of play at that point was Low A. AL teams can stash a pitcher fairly easily because of the DH. Protecting Gil surprised me, but the Braves obviously thought enough of him as a prospect to make the move they did. Cunniff surprises me more.

I think you're wrong about this, each for his own reasons.

Forget I asked. Rangers took DeShields with No. 3 pick.

Someone may have answered this already, but why in the name of Russ Nixon did we leave J.R. Graham unprotected in the Rule 5 draft. Kids has nasty stuff and throws gas...is it his health issues? Seems a shame to lose him.

The Twins selected J.R. Graham in the Rule 5 Draft. #Braves

Mcollier, It's all about Graham's health. Big time shoulder problems. Check the links I posted.

I hate to hear that we lost Graham and then picked up Winkler when both have health issues. Graham's must be more severe. Hopefully Winkler is successful for the Braves.
