Braves sniffing around on Markakis; Official 4 years 44 million.

Also this from the same article:

“Talking with Nick, (having surgery is) more of a comfort level – he thought he would be able to be stronger and better with it,” Hart said. “We discussed this with some of our people and they were absolutely in agreement. It’s a relatively short recovery for a surgery that’s not uncommon.

Then I hope he is in his orthopedist's clinic right now, prepping for surgery.

Well, it sounds like the surgery itself shouldn't have any negative effect on Markakis and can only help.

They're going to give him Jason Heyward's neck brace.*

*ok, not in the JHey thread, but said in good fun.

I don't post much and I know none of you will miss me but this board is getting ridiculous and I think I'll take a break until next year. What used to be the best site to get Braves news and discussion has turned into a bitchfest, and I don't see it changing anytime soon. I'm sure Heyward will be continue to be discussed daily for years to come. Maybe it's time to move on.

Hang in here with us.

Matt, please continue to post. Sometimes you just have to ignore some posts.

Honestly, it wouldn't be so unbearable if it wasn't the same people repeating the same thing over and over and over again, forcing you to acknowledge them. Along with that, you've got some arrogant folks who refuse to see any other perspective than their own, concede anything, or accept there is more than one opinion on something. Makes it impossible to have a civil discussion.

Indeed again.

Can someone please explain to me what exactly people are getting offended about? I don't see anyone throwing insults around, just people disagreeing (sometimes strongly) with each other which is what happens in debate. If those people are really that sensitive, maybe they just shouldn't be on the Internet.

Yeah, I don't really get it. Other than some folks relentlessly dogging Markakis and to a lesser extent Miller. I've always thought a lot of people on here were way too damn sensitive. Disagreements are characterized as "bitch fests" to make people feel better about their own opinions.

That's a little sensitive Cy! Lol....I dont think its about that more than it is the same argument taken to the nth power. It's funny to me. It's not like the Braves can reverse their moves due to public opinion. So the options are up to each individual: support the Braves or be bitter about every crappy move and don't support them.

Yeah, I'm with you. I don't see a ridiculous, board-wrecking flood of silliness and negativity. I see a range of divergent opinion, often well supported. Plenty of folks with whom I disagree make solid points which may prove to be correct in time. Since we're months away from playing baseball again, we're some ways from seeing any resolution. In the meantime, there's going to be some snark and piss and silliness. I'm ok with that. As far as the board is concerned, the good outweighs the bad.

Insults generally aren't hurled from my direction since my ignore list became jam-packed.

It's impossible to make every poster happy. When I left Scout, I went back to administrating a forum that had a lot of crusty guys who were content living in a bubble of mutual agreement in a heavily moderated setting. I tried bringing a few guys over from the BBQ, even gave them their own sub-forum, but the others couldn't be placated and the community eventually fragmented into two other sites (both of which are now dead.)

That's why I keep saying appreciate what we've got here, because the alternatives wither in comparison.

I tried to ignore someone, but I found it too annoying when that person would post and it would show he posted and then click to see the post.
