GDT: Braves @ Phillies (July 7, 2013, SERIOUSLY)

Strikes 2 and 3 to Johnson were obvious balls. You don't want him swinging at those pitches.

And believe me, if Chris Johnson takes a pitch, it's probably not hittable.

We just arent a good team guys. We have on paper what should be a top 2 or3 team in baseball, but the team just isnt good right now. Undisciplined group of players, and not a team right now

Agree, team in complacent. Some people need to be benched, but our bench is lacking. Maybe when Gattis and Schafer come back.

Neither were strikes, they both were punished for showing good plate discipline.

From the time you start kid pitch you are taught to guard the plate with two strikes. Especially when the umpire is calling that outside pitch. There was no reason to not guard the plate by either player when they got two strikes on them. You foul that off and stay alive. You watch enough of those and you will strike out watching a lot.

Here is what I don't understand. We traded Yunel because of his bad attitude and a lack of hustle yet we keep BJ.

We kept Yunel for what, 2 1/2 years? Gonna be a while for BJ, but he certainly doesn't deserve to play regularly; he's the worst hitter with RISP in baseball.

Evryone keeps saying that Justin will be fine. Im concerned.

Hell, as of right now, it looks like the Upton brothers and their contracts will set the Braves back for the next 5 years and could possibly cost us having the money to keep other players long term

Sorry, I disagree. If you know the strike zone well enough then you take your chances and swing at strikes. There is no guarantee you would foul it off, you could easily roll over the pitch and hit a weak ground ball. Swing at strikes, take balls. That's how Joey Votto hits and it seems to work for him.

Eddings threw out BJ from the dugout? Not surprising, he threw me out from the dugout in Miami. When ur zone is awful, u get #rabbitears!

he's been very inconsistent with his calls. you aren't supposed to swing at pitches that are pretty obviously balls.

Or stand there and watch strike three.
