The Interview

LMAO at saying Obama should stand up and make a point to "defend his country." Holy **** man. I cannot believe these people exist.
I'm pretty sure he did say "people should still go to the movies." I don't know that this is a big deal at all. Now we will all see the movie, probably illegally.

What if The Interview was actually a fake movie like Argo by the CIA to overthrow Kim's regime. Having those people who smuggle dvds and drop them from balloons into NK will incite some life to a new resistance probably.

And, of course, Sony's fecklessness is already ramifying: UPDATED: Alamo Drafthouse replaces The Interview with Team America: World Police—or not:

Deadline is now reporting that Paramount has canceled the Alamo Drafthouse’s upcoming screening of Team America: World Police, as well as a screening at Cleveland’s Capitol Theater. The Alamo Drafthouse says that the cancelation is “due to circumstances beyond our control.”

Several other small cinema houses or chains planned a similar replacement with Team America: World Police—and now won't be able to screen that film, either.

You do realize that Obama is going to make a statement to defend this country and its people?

Bedell mentioned the main thing. Iran announced in 2006 that the fatwa will remain in place permanently. Rushdie also still gets a package for Valentine's Day every year from Iran reminding him that they are going to kill him and his family (the same day they announced the permanent fatwa in 2006). I think the bounty on his head is right around 3 million dollars. He still has to have armed guards when he goes certain places. Not allowed in certain countries (him and The Satanic Verses). And all that is just recent. The things that happened in the first decade+ of its release were even worse.

Thanks. I feared my question would be received in jest, but certainly not meant that way. I had no idea. I haven't read or really know anything about the man or his work.

This is embarrassing. And leads credence to the opinion that we've turned into a nation full of wussies.

I agree. This isn't about left or right. This is all about everybody being scared or feeling aggrieved every frickin' day of their lives.

As intertwined as Big Business and Big Government are, I don't know how we can realistically separate the two when it comes to cyber-wars.

Tough thing about fighting NK in a cyber-war is a lack of great targets.

But some people say that this is about Sony and not America.

If anything, this issue should be a reflection on Japanese culture. They own Sony Corporation and call the shots -- their actions now are an attempt to save face. The company has been embarrassed.

Kim Jong-un knows that he's kicked the hornets nest. The North Koreans would be astonishingly daft to even so much as attempt anything beyond the scope of what they actually (luckily) perpetrated ... our government knows this. Nobody on American soil, in their right mind, should be remotely afraid of North Korea. The geopolitical implications as it pertains to the Pacific Rim are another story completely, but the histrionics being displayed RE: an attack on our soil are about as ludicrous and unfounded as it gets.

Someone finally connected the dots.

NK hates Japan, Sony HQ is in Japan. Bad Haircut knew what he was doing and he knew that the US would not do anything......yet, until they figure it out.

A good interview with Clooney on this.

"With just a little bit of work, you could have found out that it wasn’t just probably North Korea; it was North Korea. The Guardians Of Peace is a phrase that Nixon used when he visited China. When asked why he was helping South Korea, he said it was because we are the Guardians of Peace"
