Braves sign Pierzynski

Winning cures everything. If the Braves are in a playoff race come August then everyone will be watching. I don't like that we signed a character like this but the money is minimal and it was a positional need.

This in bold should probably read: "Winning cures everything. If the Braves are in a playoff race come the magical 2017 then everyone will be watching." :tchop:

Looking on the bright side, maybe AJ will piss in Harper's ear a little bit when the Nats come to town. Teheran on the mound and AJ behind the plate might be enough to get in his head.

My guess is Pierzynski will set the target waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay inside in the situation you describe.

I got to watch Pierzynski close up in Minnesota. He does wear on you, but if he's got anything left in the tank, he'll contribute.

You ask who cares? Apparently just about every player he has ever played WITH or AGAINST. This is a bad signing for a great clubhouse. For a clubhouse like ours? It's a ****ing disaster.

Yeah he's been a real disaster so far.

:HeywardWut:

Should have mentioned this sooner, but back when this survey originally came out, it was largely ignored. The "stathead" clown car over at Scout insisted that the Braves should sign Nick Swisher as a FA. So, just to understand the rationale, I asked simply, "what do you like about him?" Nobody replied. To keep the discussion alive, I demonstrated that Nick Swisher was, in fact, a bozo. One poster actually compared him to Maddux. Yes, really...and only because Maddux told fart jokes.

Then attempting it by another angle, the favorite statistic of the time OPS was cited. You never hear much about OPS from this crowd much though now. Swisher's lifetime post-season OPS was in the .500 range. They, of course, neglected to acknowledge this vital bit of information. Another intrepid poster PM'd that since he was in Oakland for a period of time, there was the Billy Beane connection.
