Not sure if I want to see Wood pushed to go deeper here or the pen, what's left of it, anyway. Neither option is exactly a warm fuzzy feeling.

I just have confidence that after a few starts Wood will be able to at a minimum provide us what Maholm does while having the upside to be an impact SP. It's impressive the amount of K's he's been racking up this quickly in his career.

Actually, Mike was a strong proponent for Heyward hitting #2 his rookie year.

I think Mike's argument was against the theory of protection and the cleanup hitter protecting the #3.
