I think Jozy would choose NYRB, as a USMNT fan I'd want him paired up with Bradley. I would love a team to use all 3 designated spots on USMNT players. Sporting KC is the closest to that IIRC, LA was really close to that for all of like 1 season. NYRB have IIRC 2 designated player spots so they could make 2 splashes. Toronto will shortly have an open designated player spot as Jermaine Defoe is all but assured to be going back to the EPL.

USA roster for January Camp is out and it's basically what was expected.

GK - Johnson, RImando, Kempin, Alex Bono. Shocked Hamid isn't there, is he hurt?
DF - Besler, O'Neill, Jones, Evans, Sorto, Birnbaum, Dean, Kitchen
MF - Bradley, Mix, Gil, Ibarra, Nguyen, Trapp, Shea, Serna, Pelosi, Flores
FW - Akindele, Dempsey, Morales, Wondo, Wood, Zardes

Some shocks, aside from Hamid, is that Bobby Wood is there. I'm surprised he isn't playing for 1860 Munich. Really want to watch guys like Gil, O'Neill, Trapp, and Akindele play as they're very interesting players.

Roy Hodgson's Ballon d'Or ballot:

1 - Javier Mascherano
2 - Philipp Lahm
3 - Manuel Neuer

Is there any wonder England crashed out of the World Cup when the guy making their personnel decisions felt that Javier Mascherano was the best player in world football in 2014 - and thought CR7 and Messi weren't in the top three?

Voter fatigue, schmoter fatigue. Ronaldo had 61 goals + 22 assists in 60 appearances for club/country and won the UCL. Messi's numbers weren't far behind. Javier Mascherano was better than that?

Mix to NYCFC. When Lampard joins them in June they're gonna be pretty sick. They'll have Lampard and Mix in the mids and Villa striking.

Interesting, I figured Defoe back to EPL but as a straight swap? Interesting, I figured they'd sell him to another team who needed a striker more than Sunderland. Jozy is gonna rip tits in MLS. Hopefully Bradley and him get a good rapport working together.

ESPN posted and article about who could get Messi. Basically they said only Real and Man U are the only ones who could afford him and stay within FFP. Basically saying that only Man U has a real chance given the bitter rivalry between Real and Barca. They also said they dont' expect a deal to happen quickly and for it could take several years to pay it off.

really don't want Jozy in the MLS but so be it

Klinsmann was supportive of the move. Basically because there were no championship teams those 2 could go to. I wish someone in the Bundesliga signed him so he had more top competition. But him pairing up with Bradley coudl be a good thing. If Jurgen works with Toronto's coach to have Brdley play a little more forward they can maybe get more reps of their roles at the national squad.

If TFC still can't manage to finally make the playoffs, I don't knkw what to say.

FWIW, reports are that they are also closing in on Giovinco from Juve.

There was talk of a 4th DP spot. IIRC the current CB agreement is up and supposedly a 4th spot will be on the table.

As it is I assume they would get rid of whoever the 3rd guy is that isn't Bradley or Jozy.

Brazilian striker Gilberto. I don't think they'd have trouble moving him if need be.

On a side note, he scored a rocket free kick this past season that he only got to take after a demonstrative argument on the field with Defoe. Not sure I had ever seen that before. At one point Defoe had actually slapped the ball out of Gilberto's hands.

One of my more in the know friends said that Defoe was night and day when it came to after WC selections. He basically thought going to MLS and dominating (and he did) would give him a better look then he was basically pouting most of the rest of the year and was a big reason Toronto didn't make the playoffs.

So Giovinco to TFC is being reported as all but official. Basically Toronto is banking on the 4th DP spot coming from Collective Bargaining (and I think it will) if not, they expect Gilberto to be cut.

Now it's official. Giovinco to TFC. Salary rumored to be over 7M a year. Basically the first not over the hill or American talent that MLS has taken from Europe. Beckham would be an argument for the other, but like Gerrard, he was over 30 and while still highly regarded, wasn't regarded as one of the greats anymore. Beckham came to MLS for the money, and he had the clause of opening a franchise which could mean even more long term money. I don't think Giovinco will be staying around MLS for long.

Giant slaying weekend. Man U and Liverpool forced into second leg, Middlesbrough over City, Bradford over Chelsea, Leiscester over Tottenham, and Blackburn over Swansea. 4 top half of the table premier league teams are out of the FA
