Official off-season trade rumor and suggestion thread

Another "blank check" team is in on Moncada. I hope they can come up with a better International system after the CBA expires in a couple years.

@JesseSanchezMLB
Source: #Dodgers aggressively pursued Yoan Lopez but came up short. Will now shift attention to OF Yoan Moncada. Expect a private workout.

The #Braves are still talking to some teams about Gattis. But it does not appear that a potential deal is imminent.

Take this for what you will, but Bowman's tweet came a short while after Braves blogger gondeee posted this:

@gondeee
Gattis might be going to the Astros... stay tuned.

He has sinced added this:

@gondeee
Gattis rumor came from a source I trust, though it might be premature & not fully informed.

Fowler would HAVE to be coming back, right?

Both Bowman and Heyman have mentioned Aoki in past 24 hours. He's a Markakis clone, so would fit our new philosophy. We'd be LH heavy, but Markakis and Aoki both hit lefties pretty well.

@mlbbowman
The #Braves still have a little more than $10M to spend. Aoki is a FA who might end up playing LF in ATL

@JonHeymanCBS
in new OF landscape, nori aoki may interest #braves. orioles among others looking at aoki.

Wish we could sigh Aoki, Moncada, and Shields... Shields will never happen though. Not big on Aoki but don't know who else there is.

DOB has mentioned Aoki too but went further than Bowman and Heyman by pointing out that we do have interest if the money is right. But the issue shouldn't just be money, but more the number of years. He has only gotten two year offers so far and I see no reason to go over that unless it's just a team option for a third with a cheap buyout.

David O'Brien @DOBrienAJC
#Braves still have money to pursue a free-agent LF. Not many left, but Aoki would be a good fit and they have interest if $ right.

Precisely. That's my biggest beef with the Markakis deal and it was my biggest beef with the Melvin Upton deal. I wouldn't go over two with Aoki.

I was pimping Aoki hard last offseason but I am a bit conflicted about bringing him in now. He was having a bad year until going ape**** in September to give him an overall decent Stat line. His speed seems to be declining and his power went from below average to Rafael Belliard. Part of his game is hitting a lot of ground balls and being fast enough to beat the throw or make the defender make an error trying to hurry. I guess there's no harm so long as it's a 2 year deal.

Think I'd rather have Rasmus thank Aoki actually... Even tho I'm not a big fan he has more of what the lineup is lacking now and still has a tiny bit of upside in a new environment

... or payroll's already being walked-back, under the cover of this rebuild (at least for 2015).

I kinda expected it to be backed up because why not if we don't intend to be contending, but we have really removed some serious payroll.

Bankin it for yoan I betcha! Lol:icwudt:

How in the sam hell could we possibly only have 10 million left? Either that is grossly wrong or we've severely dropped our payroll limit

I have our projected payroll at $98m right now with two spots open: Bench Bat, LF. I have the assumption of Wandy winning the #5 slot. So that would leave $12m.

@ChrisCotillo
#Braves no longer in the running to sign Brandon Beachy, per source.

Disappointing. It's a minor point, but this definitely ranks as a decision Hart made this offseason that I disagree with. Beachy was slated to get $1.5m in his arbitration projection. Seems like it would have been worth the risk for a guy who is under control through 2016 and has performed well. 2-time TJ guys are definitely a risk, but I thought is was a risk worth taking at that price.

Especially considering all the other injured pitchers we are taking a chance on

I'm a bit conflicted too, if up to me I'd be more willing to let Joey T, Hunter, among others fight it out for that outfield spot.
