Why Do Liberals Hate 'American Sniper'?

I haven't seen "American Sniper" yet, but has anyone here seen "Enemy at the Gates?" It starred Jude Law, Ed Harris, and Joseph Fiennes. It was set in WWII and the basic story line was a duel between a Russian and German sniper. Truly interesting movie and it was all about propaganda, especially on the Russian side. Curious to see if there is any valid comparison here.

That was great. I watched that and Das Boot on the same day years ago.

Really liked Enemy at the Gates, especially the first 30 minutes and the last 20-30 minutes. It's a little too long in the middle. The expression on the first Russian soldier when they opened the doors on the train bringing them to Stalingrad was perfect. It sort of looks like what I would imagine the first expression a person would show when they saw hell for the first time (or possibly Detroit).

I own a Russian Mosin-Nagant rifle that was used during the Battle of Stalingrad. One of my most prized possessions.

I also have a Nazi Luger, but feel awkward telling people about it anymore (or calling it a prized possession.)

Lugers nice. How did you come across that? Just the word 'Luger' reminds me of Band of Brothers.

Wow, you just couldn't make up your mind which side you were on, huh? :icon_biggrin:

Who are these Liberals that hate American sniper? Is there a link? Source? I don't wanna read every page of this thread.

I enjoyed that Tom Hanks boat saving movie about the pirrrrrrates. Would I enjoy American Sniper?

Lugar . . . reminds me of . . . former US Senator Richard Lugar!

They had an in-depth discussion regarding American Sniper on Larry Wilmore's The Nightly Show last evening. Had a couple of vets along with Rolling Stone writer Matt Taibbi and a comedienne who I am not familiar with. Very balanced discussion along with some fairly madcap stuff. Interested folks may want to check it out: http://www.cc.com/shows/the-nightly-show

Wilmore's show is pretty solid. Has its share of humor, but he does a nice job tackling an issue every evening.

I bought it at a flea market in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The vendor had everything from Swastika emblazoned dinnerware to Hitlerjugend uniforms.

The entire purchase process, from authentication to customs clearance, took almost two years.
