REAL FOOTBALL Thread

I think Lynch is making off just fine, too. Bringing in more money than he's fined, not doing things he deems stupid, not worrying about backlash/what people say. He dominates on the playing field, is a great teammate, works hard. But oh no! He won't give the media what they want!

So why does he care about getting fined? Gotta get that sponsor money, too, though with those commercials. If it's that big of an issue that you can't answer a couple of questions, go to your player rep and lobby for the rules change. Guess that money is more important.

The media has an obligation in their profession to interview players. Likewise players have an obligation to speak to the media. Be an adult and do what you are supposed to do. weather you agree that players should give time to the media or not. **** Marshawn Lynch is a complete waste of human.

"Waste of a human"? Dude, you are a joke. His charities and teammates beg to differ. He's probably a much better human than you.

I don't think he's a waste of a human, though. He might be a terrific person. I wouldn't know. I just know he's being a little baby at the moment.

Because it's bull****?
I just don't think he wants or care to answer the questions, not that he "can't." And it this point, he's done it so long, why change?
I just don't think he cares. He's not going to "go to his player rep to complain" because he doesn't really care that much. He'll go up there and just troll to avoid the fines. I'm not going to condemn a guy who I have no reason to believe is any kind of a bad person just because he won't answer useless, redundant questions. His teammates don't care, they love him. His charities don't care. So why should I? He does everything right as an NFL player EXCEPT answer dumb questions. You people are great.

The players in the NFL are expected to help growth the industry which is part of the reason why the NFL is so popular. Without players being accessable and talking heads discussing the sport, the sport would lose a ton of interest. The game, the industry, the players all benefit from the media attention the sport gets. While its certainly logical that he doesn't want to be asked stupid questions by the media and have them "spin" what he's saying, any publicity is good publicity.

How popular would the league be if no player did interviews?

Suck it up and deal with it, the media is a large reason why the game is as popular as it is as well as being a large reason he gets as big of a paycheck as he receives. Im sure he doesn't really care bc he's already made a fortune, but what about the other players behind him? Sometimes you should do things to advance the profession even if it does not benefit you personally.

I don't think he's being a baby, he just doesn't care about that aspect. The NFL is a joke on a lot of levels, so good for him for trolling them. This isn't a court case where he's being asked serious questions. It's "hey marshawn how did that win feel?!?!" Like, come on. And at this point, it's just funny to me. He's a G, I'm glad he doesn't care what people think.

How are they all dumb questions? Did it ever occur to you that a lot of the people that plant their butts in the seats and buy his jerseys and Beast Mode bull**** so he will get paid might be interested in his take on things when asked good questions by professionals?

You are great.

A ton of players talk and have no problem with it. Russell Wilson would never leave a press conference. Everyone is different. He's not hurting anyone by doing what he's doing. If a lot of players started doing it, fine, you have more of a point. But right now, just him, who cares?

He receives a large paycheck mostly because he's insanely good at football.

LOL his "take on things." People mostly care about what he does on the football field, and not one person has complained about that. Not coach, not teammates, no one. 99% of his job is taking care of himself so he can play football effectively, and he's fantastic at that. Plenty of players talk. At this point, he's just trolling the NFL for all the fines they've given him. He's abiding by the rules. No more fines.

If the sport wasn't popular then he wouldn't get paid no matter how good he is. The NFL has a battle because guys aren't recognizable like in other sports (helmets on) so they have to work harder to get the players known outside of the field.

So if Lynch gets away with it, how many other players are going to skip interviews?

Yeah I guess defending America and fighting in two different wars means nothing because I don't make millions.

I just think it's absolutely absurd that Josh Gordon is being suspended for a year for testing positive for alcohol. Why does the NFL even bother testing for this? I mean they've essentially taken away one of the best WR's in the league for smoking pot and drinking some booze. What does the NFL benefit from even testing this? Maybe test for the hard stuff, but just seems unnecessary to test for pot and alcohol? Even if you do test then just make him go get some counseling if you are truly concerned.

Bc it was part of his deal to lower his suspension.

Alcohol is a part of plenty of probation agreements.

Well he did get charged with a DUI which triggered the tests for alcohol. I believe the reason for this is centered upon DUI convicts are prohibited from drinking which is the basis the NFL follows.

But the weed suspension is dumb and alcohol is way too strong of a punishment. The NFL needs to have a complete restructuring of its disciplinary system.

Gordon mentioned in his open letter that he was only .01 above the legal limit. Honestly something that a good chunk of us could be found guilty for. There's a difference between slightly over the limit and way over the limit. But I guess that's a societal thing.

Not that anyone her probably cares but the Saints owner Tom Benson is being sued by his bitch of a granddaughter (Benson adopted her mother so no blood relation) for deciding to leave the team to his wife Gale because Rita (the granddaughter) is a bitch of the highest magnitude. The kind that went thru 60 personal assistants in 3 years and was suspended in 2012 for her sense of entitlement. She is universally hated by everyone in the Saints organization. So much so that Payton had an opt out clause specifically so he could leave if she takes over. Goodell veto'd it but you get the idea. There is a 100% chance she moves the team. Either San Antonio or LA. Goodell won't stand in her way after he got embarrassed by the Saints in bountygate. He don't even to to his former BFF Tagliabue anymore because he ruled against him. I may just have to take one for the team if this happens.
