NBA Thread

I still remember all the "They may not even be a playoff team this year" talk.

This has been coming for well over a year. If not for Horfords injury last year the Hawks would have been in the ECF at the very least.

I worry about Clevelands level of play right now but other than them I dno't see another team touching the Hawks in the playoffs.

*STEVEN ADAMS UPDATE*

Steven Adams currently ranks 50th in PER for NBA Centers

Also is 41st in value added & 41st in wins added.

I still stand by my statement. His performance halfway through his second season is nothing but encouraging so far for me.

Just curious but........how would those rankings be encouraging AND make you stand by your statement? Again....just curious....

Cleveland is an obvious candidate to win the east. Chicago worries me the most though. I want to stay as far away from them once the playoffs start. However from an excitement factor Atlanta-Chicago would be an awesome series.

I don't believe contributions to wins and losses are accurately captures by advanced statistics for basketball at this time. There are way too many nuances that will never be accurately accounted for IMO. Not saying Adams has been great this year but I never said he would be top 10 right now. But, based on watching every single minute of thunder basketball I have seen enough of his improvement from last year to believe that he will continue to get better.

I don't think Chicago can score enough to stick with you guys and their offense isn't imaginative enough to make things difficult on your defense (which is one of the best in the league).

Cleveland just has a lot of high end talent and the contributions of JR and Mozgov have been huge to that team. They also have that guy who wears #23 who is pretty good.

Cleveland has played alot better lately.

Can never count out a team with LBJ in a playoff series.

Hawks are damn good though.

THey never play well in Memphis but hope they miss the playoffs.

Not that the pick will be anything good (12-14 at best), but they need a lottery type talent on the team.

GS would assrape them in the 1st round if they were to get in.

Waiters trade was bad but they still didnt give up much for him so it is what it is.

BTW, another team I've watched a lot this year and I think can be another version of the Hawks in the future is the Bucks. Kidd is a great coach and that team plays beautiful basketball. They are getting something out of Dudley this year that the Clippers couldn't even do last year. If Parker hadn't gotten hurt I really think the Bucks could have won a round in the playoffs this year.
