Yeah he had a route open in the end zone behind Lockette. Butler did a great job of jumping that route almost before the great Russ threw it. Still an awful decision to throw it there though. That falls on the right arm of Russ the great still.
 
This whole argument I hear some people peddling that Lynch was 1-5 from the 1 this season as some sort of justification is just so moronic. He was gashing New England's defense the whole second half.

It was pretty much the worst decision/play call in the history of sports.

It wasn't the worst call in the history of sports. I would have run the ball, then if stopped, you have to call timeout and then throw 2 passes to get in the end zone; but just because I disagree doesn't mean it's the worst call ever.

It wasn't worse than SF a couple years back.

With Marshawn Lynch in the backfield running like a man possessed makes that EASILY the worst call of all time.
 
I run the ball 3 straight times with Lynch, they stop him 3 straight, then good for them.

But i dont see anyway a tired defense holds Lynch out of the endzone three straight times as good as he is at breaking tackles only needing a yard.

GIven the situation, worst decision ever for sure.

Not saying it's all Russ' fault but he had plenty of chances to end the game.
 
What was at stake probably elevates it. Idk about worst of all time, but Carroll was clearly overthinking it.

Either way, he still had timeouts. I seriously doubt Lynch was going backwards, but if he did have a three-yard loss, you can still throw a four-yard TD pass.

He had 1 timeout. I probably run on 2nd down, but you risk getting stopped and having to use last timeout and then being forced to throw on 3rd and 4th down (and the defense knowing it).

As I said, Id run. Worst call in history talk is stupid though.

But even then, you throw and it's incomplete, like Carroll said. So it's third down. Then maybe you run it and don't convert and have to call time. Now it's fourth down and no timeouts.

The ball was inside the 1. I agree; it's not the worst ever, but inside the 1, I'm giving the ball to my horse every time and making you stop it. Especially with two more downs at your disposal.

The defense wouldn't know if you were running or passing on 4th down. You could do either with no regards to the clock.

I'm still baffled that Belicheck didn't call timeout.

He didn't call timeout bc by calling timeout, Seattle gets to set up a play and also gets 2 more cracks at the end zone. calling timeout means Seattle gets to use all 4 downs. By not calling timeout then Seattle has to use timeout if they run the ball on 2nd down and don't get the touchdown. Then they would have to throw on 3rd down without a doubt.

By not calling timeout, Belichek left Seattle less options. Seattle with less options is better than praying your team can score in under a minute with no timeouts.

They had 2 timeouts i believe, or was it one?

Even still, you dont pass there, or do that type of pass.

Maybe a read option pass and chuck it out of bounds, or a fade route.
 
I agree with holden, he got popped and didnt know where he was.

Not saying the league is rigged (certain games are), but he certainly should have gotten looked at.
