NBA Thread

Yeah he saw action in three games, but he is a wasted pick because he can't play? He never had a ****ing chance to play.

Who is he going to play over? The Hawks have the second best record in basketball and you are still finding something to complain about? Thats some major skillz right there bud.

Well yes my favorite college player on the Spartans then gets drafted onto my NBA team. He sees the floor three times and is then traded away and never got a chance to play. I should be jumping for joy right about now?

Maybe pick a better favorite player?

No NBA team is going to willifully hold a player back. He obviously didn't show enough.

Which would be awesome if people wanted to play in Utah...

Utah has a history of holding onto players that have grown up in the Jazz culture. With the exception of Deron Williams they haven't had an issue resigning players.

They won't ever be players on the open market with the exception of guys like Carlos Boozer. Second tier guys that, yes, they have to overspend on.

Yes please let some more guys leave Utah. The Hawks will welcome them with open arms.

I love the Hawks mainly because it's filled with Jazz players that were universally loved. People talk about the jump Korver made in Atlanta, but Carroll is by far the craziest. I remember when the Jazz picked him up on a 10 day contract two years ago.

I do like Gobert, Favors, heyward. Their problem is similar to what a lot of teams that play in places no one wants to plan in; you have to build a young core of 2-3 superstar players through the draft because you aren't signing and holding on to the top players in the league so you have to overpay vets to convince them to play in Utah.

The NBA caters to retaining your own superstars, but obviously the Jazz can't lure them in free agency. They definitely need more luck than most teams, but I like their core right now. They just need to get lucky with either Exum or in this draft by netting a bonafide star.

I think it depends on the type of person but the NBA has changed. You can play in a small market and still be a marketable star. Utah is probably a beautiful place.

I lived in NY my whole life. I have no clue why anyone would want to come here to play.

Utah won't appeal to players that want an active night life, but a lot of players come here and stay. Salt Lake City appeals to a lot of people and it does have a rich culture. It just doesn't necessarily appeal to young black males.

Bron / KD / Rose / Melo / etc those guys will get endorsement money no matter where they go but those guys are also never signing in Utah. Utah has to trade for one of those types and hope they resign with them.

Agreed 100%

Although, in the modern NBA depth is becoming more and more important. It's better to build through the draft and develop your own superstars.
