Actual Music Artist

I didn't think Yorke wrote a lot of the music for Radiohead. I always thought O'Brien was the guy that wrote most of the actual music.

Yorke and Greenwood have both written a ****load of Radiohead's music; O'Brien has contributed a lot, too, but a good deal of his work is tweaking and finishing compositions, from what I've read.

I want to see this evidence of Kanye playing a piano as more than to record a simple hook.

I don't get it, he makes all of the music on his songs/albums as well as a ton for other people. How is that not composing? The sounds aren't already made, he makes them using various instruments. The songs aren't put together for him, he does it himself. You're not even presenting an argument. Do you think the sounds are pre-made? If so, again, do you have ANY knowledge of music production? lol he doesn't pick up pre-made basslines. He uses plenty of samples, but they're often changed and integrated into music that he made himself. Please list stark differences. I will wait.

edit: I also never compared him to Jones, obviously his career is more well-rounded and diverse.

I picked the Jones article because it's a direct comparison to how music used to be produced vs how it is now. I know a good deal about production. I've been in a recording studio, one of my best friends from High School went to school for production, and my girlfriends brother went to school for sound engineering or some**** like that that's basically a fancy way of saying production.

Are his sounds premade? No, yes? Maybe?

I asked for EVIDENCE that Kanye plays instruments. You know how ****ing easy it is to make music in say Pro Tools? I'm guessing you don't, cause you think Kanye plays instruments. Kanye can get a session musician to play something simple. Aka, play me something that sounds like this, when the guy hits it the way he likes it he takes it and introduces it to the track. Am I saying that's exactly what happens? I don't know. Maybe he's a sample master like Mix Master Mike from the Beastie Boys or Jam Master Jay who can do all kinds of smaples in creative ways. But i have found 0 evidence of Kanye playing an instrument.

Dissing Dr. Dre?

Kayne makes a fool of himself yet again. I guess the terrible, auto tuned song he did wasn't embarrassing enough he had to whine about Beyoncé again.

Kanye doesn't use autotune, yeezus made that clear. If it's not on 808s, he doesn't use it.

I was never a big Beck person, but I'm far more likely to listen to a Beck album than a Beyonce one. Maybe Kanye can sample off Beck for his next hit.

Hm didn't say that, but you can continue to make things up to suit your "argument."
If you honestly think Kanye doesn't have talent you're just an idiot.

I've never heard the use of sampling in hip-hop really criticized. And some Kanye's are really obscure.

Kanye has talent as a producer, he's mediocre at rapping and rubbish at singing. I could be blitzed out of my mind and not break autotune like Kanye has.

it depends what you look for in rap. i think kanye has a ton of clever and/or relate-able lines in his songs. he's not like, jay-z or even kendrick level rapping-wise, but he's decent-to-good. production wise he's insane. i don't think he claims to be a good singer/thinks he is, but he uses autotune and sings when it fits the music. 808s is a masterpiece.

I always love the "(insert genre here) music died in (insert cliche time period)" arguments.

music as a whole keeps getting better. it's evolving and it's different, but there's more access, integration, innovation, and ideas than ever before.

The "clever" lines thing is one of the most annoying tropes in new rap. It seemingly started it's rise in popularity with young money rappers and even guys who've been around picked up on it to stay relevant (Eminem and Jay Z have been caught doing it)

huh? what are you talking about?
give me examples? I'm honestly confused. I mean things like:

i made jesus walks, i'm never going to hell
couture level flow, it's never going on sale
luxury rap, the hermes of verses,
sophisticated ignorance, write my curses in cursive.
