(we need more smilies up in here). BTW, I subscribe to the New York Times as well as the WSJ and find the apparently widely accepted notion that both are blatantly partisan to be inaccurate.

I'm always amused at people who act surprised or even shocked that pols are liars. Our entire govt has become based on what we can take from each other by force. Stealing no matter how pretty a bow you put on it! If that doesn't bother STFU about pols that are liars.
Someone please start a thread defending the taxpayer. More small businesses close every year than are started. Unemployment apps up this week. **** you Barry. Yeah, but the problem is too many people can't tell or won't tell the difference. Remember back to the post Dan Rather story on W's political service. Now first of all is there any doubt that he probably got some preferential service duties? If not wouldn't he have been the first son of a sitting president to not get such? With that said the Rather report was a travesty and started a chain reaction of crap that still goes on today.
Here's the deal. After Rather's report those aholes on the the far right (ie Cheney, the talk radio crowd, some at Faux,and so on) jumped on this and told everyone, "you see, you can't trust the "liberal media", meaning that anything reported on any site not having their "seal of approval" could simply be dismissed as another Rather style POS. Then they went to the next level of the game by classifying (informally of course) all sources of "news" as either trustworthy (those who only told the Repub side of the story) or untrustworthy, ie the dreaded "liberal media".
Now let me ask you, how many really negative stories about W, Cheney, Afghanistan, Iraq, and pretty much anything the Repubs did during President Cheney's 8 years did you EVER read, hear, or see on one of those "trustworthy" sources? Any?? Are you telling me that that administration was so good that they didn't deserve any harsh criticism? Yet these are the "reliable" sources in information that most people on the political right went to and still go to for their "news".
You set up your followers to only believe "news" from a source that you know damn well won't say anything negative about your guys, and at the same time you set them up to not believe anything from "that other/liberal" side. You do realize this is what they did and are still doing, right? I am not in any way defending the left/libs, I am simply stating a fact, the right wing media LIES their arses off all the time but good people who have fallen for this Goebbelsian technique STILL can't see through it. They firmly believe after decades of indoctrination where they're told all the lies, mistakes, and overall sins of the Dems, but never hearing any of those from their own guys, really can't believe or accept that their own guys even do that stuff, "that's the crap that the Dems pull". they really believe that the Repubs and all they stand for only consist of only truth, honor, and morality.
Now about this op-ed crap, here's how the political right pulled this stuff for the past few couple of decades:

Vol, you should really read some of the stuff I post about you here, most of it is quite complimentary, right up until I mention the part about how much you, at least until recently, were a big "Bat **** Glen Beck" fanatic. Mr. "a left wing conspiracy for every occasion".
Ask the REAL libs on this board how many of their meetings I've ever been to. Ask them if they think I'm really a lib. You know Lord Reagan said that if anyone agreed with him on politics, etc., even 80% of the time they could be friends, the new Repub crowd says even 100% of the time isn't good enough. Well I may be a lib in your eyes, but to anyone who's eyes are actually open that wouldn't be the case, but if it came down to Ann Coulter logic of you have to be a conservative or a liberal, or have the IQ of a toaster, I'll have to go with #2 or #3. I do not now nor do I ever want to be included with the likes of Cruz, Palin, Bachmann, Guiliani, Boner, Huck (even though I met him one time), Christie (even though he does have the good sense to be a Cowboys fan) McConnell, Jindal, Mr. "I used every social program under the sun until I got rich and in Congress, now I'm against all of them Paul Ryan, (don't really know enough about the kid from Florida), or to a lesser extent Jeb Bush. I think it Jeb had been president first, before his brother that might have worked, but I don't know about us ever electing another one. I actually voted for the last 2 POS candidates the Repubs put up there, firmly holding my nose both times.
How's your mom by the way. I sincerely hope all is well with her, once you go through having cancer you truly do feel differently about that whole subject. Sorry we haven't talked since we had the chat about cancer but I remember when I told you my insurance company jerked me around for a month and a half because they didn't want me to have the type of therapy I wanted to have you blamed "socialized medicine". A prepackaged Repub reason for everything, huh?
OK, carry on. Maybe you and yours can finally get your way some day and people like me can be rounded up for telling you shi-ite you don't like hearing, ie the actual whole truth.

By the way I agree with what you post sometimes, probably more often than you might think, but to tell you the truth I do disagree with what you post quite a bit too, but honestly I've never once thought you were lying in any of them. You know it's OK to disagree sometimes, unless you roll with certain elements in this country, some to the far left, some to the far right, who demand absolute 110% loyalty or else. I am PROUD to NOT be on good terms with either of those groups. I actually feel sorry for anyone who is, because they're getting lied to every day, pretty much all day long and they don't even realize it.

The BW thing will blow over before **** gets real as far as the presidential election campaign goes. I'm not saying the issue won't come up, but we hold anchors of his status to a higher degree of integrity than we do our politicians.
