Parker is not a true PG. He is definitely a shoot first guy and since the bigs on SA are very skilled a lot of SA offense runs through them. They do not have a modern system based all on the PnR started by the PG.

And again, the best example of a true PG cannot even make the western conference finals. When matched up against the prime example of not a true PG last year he was essentially played to a standstill.

Do you think the Spurs would take Parker over Paul or do they design there system based on the strengths of Parker? Do you even remember when Avery JOhnson was their point guard?

Paul
Wall
Rondo
Lawson
Teague
Conley
Parker
Bradley
Vasquez

I don't even know who Bradley is. Might be having a brain fart.

Rondo is awful and just an example of how sometimes a pass first PG is a detriment to a team.

Wall/Paul/Lawson/Conley are great example of pass first PG's fo sure.

I think Teague is borderline but could be lumped in there.

Parker is not a pass first PG. I can't believe you guys would even put him in there.

I have no clue who the SPurs would take. I don't think its as easy as just looking at hte players. You have to consider the systems. Could Paul play in that type of system where he doens't have the ball in his hands all the time on every play? I'm not so sure.

Of course I remember when Avery was there PG. He was a caretaker. That whole team was about Robinson/Duncan and then Duncan by himself. Any PG would have won with a true PF/C like that in his prime.

You guys aren't even naming starter caliber PG's. That goes to show how scarce they are. There are basically 5-8 pass first PG's that are starting.

The only non-starter is Nelson and Vasquez.

Marhsall is not a starter. Payton is a pass first PG becusae his offensive game is so brutal right now. Calderon would not be a starter on a good team. Darren Collison is borderline pass first/ shoot first. I like watching Cousins play so I've seen a lot of Collison.

Self proclaimed basketball junkie of the site and doesn't know how Avery Bradley is.

Parker averages about 12-14 shots per game. You really consider that shoot first? For example, Westbrook takes about 20 shots per game. Just because a guy can score a little bit doesn't mean he's not a "pass first" point guard.

Holiday
Payton
Collison
Marshall
Rubio
Nelson
Calderon

who could forget thethe's favorite player of all-time? So thethe talks about Rubio revolutionizing the game of basketball last week. This week, he's obsolete.

I know who Avery Bradley is. I just didn't you think you would actually consider him a PG.

Parker only shoots that much because of the system he plays in. The Thunder and many other teams play a heavy PnR based offense where the ball handler creates.

Calderon started on Dallas who went to the WCF......what are you talking about dude.

Depends on how you want to look at it, that is fine for the regular season but I don't see anyone winning in the playoffs with Bledsoe or IT2 as their main PG, or a PG like that. Playoffs the pace and rotations tighten and it's more half court sets and PGs setting up for people.

Yet CP3 can't make one WCF's and shoot first Russ has made 3 of last 4. Despite being a natural PG.

Probably won't this year obviously.

Well, the Thunder have a better roster than LA....not that difficult. Plus, yanno, KD and stuff....

Bradley plays both guard spots. He guards the opposing teams point guards.
