Clippers have been alot better than many thought since Blake went down.

I'm not sure if DeAndre will get a max but elite rebounding, solid interior defender, among other things gets you paid. I wonder if LAC give him the max with CP and Blake on maxes as well.

Their owner seems crazy and rich enough to pay any sort of tax. I bet they keep him.

The hits just keep coming for Chicago. Taj out and now Butler?

Yep. Gasol is still really ill, as well, which likely contributed to his bad day; he almost certainly wouldn't have played had Gibson been available.

And really—despite it all—the Bulls still should have pulled this one out; but their offensive in the last seven minutes or so was horrendous (and playing four-on-five, thanks to Hinrich's being on the court, certainly didn't help), it was just too much to overcome. Too bad, too: they could have grabbed sole possession of second-place in the East with a win.

Yeah, the worst thing a rebuilding orgnaization can do is get ahead of schedule. Stick to the plan.

Jazz are 17-15 in their last 32 games. I don't think they are that far away. I wouldn't mind them cashing in some assets for some veterans this summer.

I would pick Harden as MVP. I think he's been consistent the entire year and people really overate the pieces that he has on his team.

Not the one and only stat, but Curry is insane .288 winshares per 48. Hes next best teammate is Lee at .200, but that bc he's played half the games and a third of the minutes of Curry. Thompson is .177, Green is .162.

Harden is at .272, but plays with .128 and .114 (Jones is .165, but only 380 minutes)

Lebron is at .188; plays with .175 and .169

Westbrook is at .234; plays with .261(900 minutes so not like he's been out all year) and .137

Davis is .280 and plays with .117 and .114

Scrambled thoughts, but Harden, Curry, Davis have been the best 3 players this year, imo. Harden and Davies are really the only great players on either of their two teams. Neither of them have Love, Durant, Irving alongside them or in Currys case a bunch of above average players.

I can't think of anyone else that discounts the impact of having a well rounded team as much as you do.

The NBA is about star players. 1-2 super star players make the best teams. There are vary few instances were NBA teams are great with non superstar players. (Hawks) Obviously, you need other players on the team, but when you start with Westbrook and Durant, the team is competing no matter what. Those guys make everyone else better just because of the attention they get.

IN terms of overrating role players; the difference between (to throw examples out) Collison and a Speights isn't that great. Each are expendable. They need a backup big man; the difference between various backup big men on NBA teams just isn't that great (unless the rare instances were you may have Gobert on the bench)

In terms of over rating the Rockets players, they have a bunch of role players that do various things well, but take Harden away from the team and they aren't sniffing the playoffs. Harden allows you to carry a defensive (no offense) point guard. A 3 and D small forward is a perfect fit for him, etc. But, insert an above average shooting guard on the Rockets and they ain't crap.

Nobody is disputing this game is about stars. But you have to surround those players with complimentary pieces that contribute to the whole. You can easily screw up a team that has a couple of stars by not getting good role players.

Are you saying that guys like Terrence Jones, Beverly, Dmo, etc... are scrubs?

Complimentary players are easily obtained and the difference between them isn't that great. Look at Pippen and Kukoc, two really good players, but when Jordan left, you saw the difference.

Beverly is not a very good player. He's a decent defender but a liability on offense.

I like Terrence JOnes (only played 380 mins this year) Corey Brewer is a decent backup wing, nothing special. Montiejunas is ok, but again, nothing special. The Rockets have one player (other than Jones) with a win shares per 48 over .128.

Pippen was fantastic when Jordan was gone. Kukoc was also a solid player but he was never a great player to begin with.

Lebron is probably the second best player of all time and the guy was in his absolute young prime and he couldn't win with the crap they surrounded him with.

Harden just got away with two blatant push offs on Lebron. Harden is so difficult to officiate.

Yes, how many instances of a single superstar player winning a championship are there?

What an odd game. Cavs are up 1 and Lebron has played 32 minutes with his team being -5 with him on the court.

Harden has played 32 minutes and his team is +11 with him on the court.

I don't think they are far away either. They need a scoring guard though I think to get them over the hump. I assume Gordon plays the 3.
