Fangraphs on Albies debut

There is also some old video on him before we signed him somewhere, maybe it was YouTube. Anyway I was caught off guard watching it last year because the kid was so tiny in it. He hit a grandslam homerun in that highlight as I recall.

That said, thanks for posting that article.

Albies weighed 135 when they signed him in 2013 and he supposedly gained 15 pounds. It must be scorching hot in the Appy League, because he looks like he weighs about 120 in that pic.

I'm excited to see how he does in Rome.

The kid standing next to him is listed at 6'1...

No way Albies is 5'9, but if he has the barrel control of Altuve or Jose Vidro, who cares how big he is?

Smaller player smaller strike zone. I take rookie ball stats with a grain of salt, this is the league that Cody Johnson once massacred after all.

On another note, wtf does someone have an avatar of Heyward holding up a Cardinals jersey. Thats just cruel.

I don't like seeing Heyward holding or wearing a Cardinals jersey either. But if you want to talk avatars, I like my newest one a lot. Great picture of a great play by Simmons made even better by basically kicking a Nats player in the face while making it. :)

Going to see how a lot of our minor leaguers progress this year, but especially him. can't wait for it to start.

Very cruel indeed.

Definitely something to look forward to.

Yea, I have long followed the minors closely as I enjoy watching the kids coming up play sometimes more than watching MLB games. Plus this year it seems I'll have more reason to than in recent years.

Albies is certainly among my top 5 Braves prospects to follow this year.

We have a lot of guys I'm really interested in seeing how they progress.
Albies, Jenkins, Peterson, Davidson, Peraza of course, Hursh, Sims, Ruiz, Sanchez, Cabrera...sooo I guess our whole farm. I just think some of those guys I listed have a decent chance of taking a big step forward and becoming a top-tier prospect.

I hear you. Despite the distance for me, I am planning to take way, way more trips to Gwinnett than to Turner Field this year.

Better than average chance I'll see him AT LEAST 4 times in May. R-Braves will be in Asheville for 4 games the 14th through 17th, and in Hickory for 4 the 28th through 31st. May well turn into 8 times depending on my schedule and who else is eventually added to Rome's roster.

Rome should have an interesting team to watch. Not a ton of top-tier guys, but some interesting guys including Albies, Davidson, and Murphy (mabye Dykstra) for hitters and Grosser, Povse, Sobotka and others probably start the year on the mound there.

I know its early but I think Albies is considered a top tier guy right now until he hits a wall.

I was considering Albies and the others I mentioned as top tier in the Braves' system. There's just not a lot of them there.
