Steven A Smith sees the light

Ignore who he is....I don't give a rat's tootoo about it.

I am just saying he is right about blacks. All blacks in my family are Conservatives, they hate the liberal way of thinking, but they don't like Republicans because they don't give out free stuff for them to live on and force you to work.

I thought about, thought about it and then I think of the slave days of the masters giving them a roof over their head and food in their mouth, maybe there is something in that mindset of thinking that is sent down and those blacks who rebel against this thinking is like, hey the southern Republicans made us feel empowered to them.

When I talk to dad last night, he was mum and kind of said the same thing I just said above. He said it is complicated. He likes the Republicans way of thinking about making your own choices in life, not depend on Democrat liberal welfare, also he is anti-gay and very Christian oriented (about 95% of the black Baptist pastors are anti-gay), but he can't pull the trigger.

Why? I don't vote for either side and told him and he understood that I rather not be force to vote for either side or their policies because frankly it is STUPID.

Being anti-gay anti-abortion is just part of a belief structure. Blacks are also largely socially liberal and communal, not so much on the individual rights and so on so forth. Reason blacks don't vote republican is because the republican caters their vote to jingoists and to a lesser extent racists. They of course did it via codewords like states rights. But the prototypical republican nation is the articles of the confederation with a kick ass military. That doesn't fit blacks at all.

Maybe blacks are smart and realize legislating morality is a bad thing.

Then why would they vote Democrat?

Because they don't. I think you don't understand the meaning of legislating morality.

Let me spell it out. Banning gay marriage - legislating morality. Allowing gay marriage - not legislating morality. Easier to understand?

It seems like you misunderstand the meaning of legislate.

I agree somewhat with him but I dont think anyone carries enough weight with the black community to pull it off. Who has enough influence to even get 50% of the black vote to vote for someone other than a democrat? Maybe if MLK was alive. Democrats cant win without the black vote so they could hold them hostage for almost anything they want. If I was black I would be pissed that Obama hasnt done more to stop police corruption and overcriminilization of people. A black man gets a felony at 18 for a drug charge and ruins any chance he ever had at a legit future.

Blacks are also largely socially liberal and communal,

Oh my goodness, you do not know blacks. My family laughed their ass off when I told them that. :happy0157:

And the ones that go to church religiously just shook their damn head. Half of them don't even drink, so much into the Bible they don't what year it.

is.

So the question, why even bring up that comment, is there some substance to that? We blacks want to know what you know so we can fit that definition.

Yeah, I would say on average Blacks are more religious than whites which of course makes them anything but socially liberal.

also less educated

which is a common theme

the less educated someone is, the more religious they are than the other way around

They are. SOcial liberalism is about finding a balance between individual freedom and social justice. So typically, they're pro-union, pro-civil liberties, pro-community building, so on so forth.

Learn your definitions before you laugh.
