Braves in talks with DBacks for Trevor Cahill

Thanks. I'm thinking it won't come to pass on the draft pick at this point, but maybe Bowman will clarify before the night is out.

I saw that but once the deal was confirmed that wasn't included so that is why I asked.

I had a lot of fun watching Cahill pitch for Oakland. He's fun, even when he's bad.

My point was that he was so bad that most D'Back fans wanted him gone badly. Further, he was terrible last year and hasn't been good in years so I can see their point. And the soft-tosser comment was quoted from MLBTR and has already since been corrected.

Hasn't been good for years? He had solid (not great) years in 2013 and 2012... in a terrible pitchers park. If he can get his control back together... he still has a very good chance to be an above average to very good pitcher. He's only about to turn 27 and Roger is fantastic at helping pitchers get their control back.

Cahill should excell in Atlanta under Roger. Get Minor back healthy and our rotation is very good. Fix up the LH relief pitcher situation and we will have dominant pitching.

Not the big names like Washington has or the upside, but a very good pitching staff.

I know some will always complain but there is absolutely nothing negative about this trade. Solid move.

Except we are paying 6 million for at best an average pitcher. We are rebuilding. Letting some team dump their bad contract off on is isnt a good way to rebuild. Makes no sense.

I liked him coming up and went he first broke in over in Oakland. He has talent and had a great second season in the bigs. The potential is there. Don't know what happened to him the last couple years though.

I was not saying he was bad overall in 2013 but I wouldn't say he was good either (somewhere in between is more accurate). And you cannot dispute that he was very bad last year. Further, the walk on water theme some on here throw around ought to be used lately when Roger's name comes up the way some of y'all talk like he's a miracle worker.

Average pitches cost around 10 million at minimum per year on the open market. So if Cahill is average we win in the salary war. Also we only have him for one year. If he rebounds we can move him at the deadline. If not then we just let him go. How is this negative in anyway? The prospect we gave up is filler.

He was terrible last year... but even the best pitchers have down years... and I'm willing to bet a guy who's just turning 27 and has his talent isn't done yet. And Roger has done fantastic things with pitchers who haven't been able to succeed in a while... so its not exactly a stretch to think he may have a positive influence.

Not a terrible deal, but not sure I really understand the point of it. 6 mil for a 4 era in a rebuilding year isn't bad. But, why not just give some young guys a shot instead of Wandy, Stults, Cahill?

He has a career 4.07 ERA and 4.28 FIP. His 2010 season everyone praises was a 4.19 FIP. Last year when everyone was down on him, it was 3.89. That's pretty much what he is, ~4 era

Elander plays "bat." He's a guy without a position to some extent. His bat is going to have to carry him and he took a step backwards (although he was injured) in 2014.

I didn't say he couldn't have a positive influence.

Aren't you the same person who said Gavin Floyd would get 10-12 million this season?
