I think by 2017 Markakis will be at 4th outfielder ability. Is that worth 11 million? Is the risk it might happen necessary on a team that doesn't plan on contending until then?

I think he will still be competent at the plate but will hopefully be moved to LF. Maybe not worth 11M but its not like he is going to be worth 0 like Uggla/Upton were.

Uggla and Upton were straight up negatives. I doubt Markakis gets close to being that bad but I can see him regulated as top bat off the bench by then.
