Watched a classic today that I hadn't seen in quite a long time. Taxi Driver. Awesome that almost 40 years later, Scorsese is still making great movies.

Seriously, watched Whiplash and was totally blown away. They might as well re-name the Best Supporting Actor Award the JK Simmons Prize. I've always marveled at Simmons' work. One of the most versatile actors around and he is absolutely stunning in Whiplash.

Either gonna be totally amazing or bad. it's very high concept as a hero film. Guardians wasn't classic, but much more conventional thatn a movie that essentially is driven by size change.

You ever watch JK Simmons on Oz? Every time I see JK Simmons now I always think of his character on Oz, Scillinger.

Hard to not think of Simmons as Schillinger and Dean Winters as Ryan O'Reilly and Eamon Walker as an Imam. When I see Seth Gilliam on The Walking Dead as a preacher, I think "So you quit being a prison guard?"
I think Oz is one of the most underrated show in the history of television. I understand that it's simply too raw for most viewers (and the last couple of seasons spun out of control a bit), but the early seasons of that show were unbelievably compelling. Great set of actors and for many (JK Simmons, Edie Falco, Dean Winters, Kirk Acevedo, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje) it was their first big role.

I'm glad they got JJ Abrahms to do it. Imo, his strongest attribute as a director is taking a classic style and modernizing it. I think he did that really well in Super 8. Just from the shots they've shown that's what this looks like to me for the new Star Wars. An homage to the 70's films Lucas created with a modern touch. To me that was the biggest thing missing from the prequels. That and other stuff I should say.
Yeah that trailer was epic. I'm curious to see how the empire reacted to the emperor dying and the rebels gaining more power. It's clear there is still a power struggle going on there. Also I really liked Luke's speech just like he told Leia in Jedi. If they kept anything from the books I'm assuming he's talking to his niece Jaina Solo. The downed star destroyer in the background was beautiful to see.

My concern with Abrams is that he has great ideas, but his execution issues have shown up.
Abrams has a weird obsession with the black guy removing his faux stormtrooper helmet in different places and looking shell shocked.

Well I'm assuming that he's undercover or some **** so that he takes it off looking shell shocked cause he just escaped something. Either that or ****ing Jango's clones mutated like a mofo.
I actually think it's a reverse and it's a stormtrooper that defects to the republic.

I know that. But it was almost the exact same camera angle and reaction. Just thought it was unusual although I already assumed he was undercover or something to that extent. Might even be a Jedi.
