Braves in talks with DBacks for Trevor Cahill

Understood. I'm still going to pull for Markakis to succeed, as I'm sure you will, and I agree with the direction of this team, which I assume you question it a bit. Sucked losing my two favorite players, but when all is said and done, we will all look back and appreciate what Heyward did and could have been for us...while appreciating even more what Hart built for us as fans.

I hope Markakis is amazing. I'm just pragmatic. He's getting old and his power has continually fallen. His speed and range have fallen. He's probably not gonna be very good. Maybe he gets lucky and is good for us for a few years, but I have a strong feeling he won't be remotely close to being worth 44M over the next 4 years.

Cahill is going to do well in Atlanta. Hopefully they can flip him for a top 50 prospect at the deadline.

:HeywardWut:

But maybe he will be good......yeah....that's it......maybe he WILL be good!!! :FrediConfident:

Well.......maybe not........:FrediPuzzled:

This feels like Sugar Shane situation. Guy has nothing left in the tank as a pitcher. At least Shane pitched a few really good first few starts.

So based off of this logic you must think that the Braves fleeced the Cardinals in the Shelby Miller deal right?

Oh yeah, lets not forget that Markakis looks to be a brilliant signing that will eventually be a tremendous bargain right?

Not sure how it's similar?

Shelby was league average last year and the year before he was really good. Cahill was on of the worst starters in baseball and you magically thought he was going to be good.......AND....on top of asking for that, you thought we might get a top 50 prospect for him. That's just delusional and nothing close to the Shelby trade

Tremendous bargain. LOL.

Cahil was league average with his sub 4 FIP/xFIP? Sure thing bud.

But again, since we are going off of the HUGE HUGE HUGE sample size you must think Heyward is a scrub then right?

Its a fun small sample game that we are playing now apparently. I would personally extent Markakis another 5 years at this rate.

But using a LARGE sample size - like the last couple years... Cahill is awful. Heyward and Miller are not. You thought Cahill was going to net us a top 50 prospect which was laughable

Awful is sub 4 FIP/xFIP? Really?

And I said hopefully so don't twist my words.

People buy into the FIP/xFIP when it suits them, and don't when it doesn't. Cahill was good in both of them last year. It's been two starts.

But yeah, so far then, we robbed St. Louis blind. If we're going to play this game, Heyward is awful and soon to be a FA, and we got four years of a #2 for him.

Its ridiculous.

Lets also ignore that if not for a terrible defensive play Cahil probably goes 7 innings with 2-4 ER's which would be a nice building block in his second start. But hey, we all know Brule has some sort of fascination with me so I'm used to it.

I was typing out a response because I thought you meant 2013.....then I realized you were arguing he was better than average LAST YEAR and I just laughed uncontrollably for 5 minutes............You're too much man.

Let me know when we get that top 50 prospect though.

Since you are loving the SSS road today

ERA - 9.95
FIP - 4.50
xFIP - 5.36
K/9 - 4.26

Building Blocks

I'm not the one that decided to make an argument based off a small sample.

I just hope you don't disappear if Cahil starts to do well like you did with Morrow.

Cahill is horrible, there is no chance we are flipping him for a top 50 prospect. Most likely he gets DFA at some point....if you've watched him pitch over the last year and a half I don't see how any person could form the opinion that you have on him.

Markakis was horrible to as so you claimed and yet he looks pretty good right now. Are you buying into that small sample or just one that fits an argument that you want to have?

Dude had it rolling for a while last night. Then apparently lost his release point or arm slot. It was night and day different. Not sure how you didn't see that. He is very likely working on something with Roger and had trouble with it last night in the 4th. That seems like the most logical reasoning, no?

I think Brule just likes to troll his own. It is terrible.

Could be BUT his body of work suggests he's very good. He was horrible last year, was dreadful in his first start this, he had a good first 3 innings vs a lineup missing Wright and Travis, isn't it more likely that he's still not very good?

If you think Cahill can be a 4.5 ERA guy and be close to league average, I might give you that but saying he's going to be good enough to flip for a top 50 prospect is just all sorts of dumb.
