Around Baseball 2015 Edition

LOL. St. Louis has played a fairly easy schedule so far. They just lost their ace for the year. Walden may also be done for the year. Their hitting will cool off as well, as they aren't going to have 7 players hit over .300 all season. They will win nowhere near 100 games.

They better put as much space between Pitt as they can. Cause when McCutchen gets out of his funk, the Pirates are going to go on a roll with that pitching they have.

The Cards are still really good though, and a couple years ago when they lost Waino, didn't they win the WS? They're a very good, deep team. They have a ton of pitching themselves.

Really odd decision for sure. Stults brings pretty much nothing, but Wandy has mean at least a respectable starter.

Really? Stults never had productive seasons? Again, I'm going to give guys more than a handful of starts before we kick them to the curb.

Petco affect. Stults is a flyball pitcher and SD helped him tremendously.

Stults- career at Petco:
.255/.300/.392 with a 3.93 FIP and 3.48 ERA. 2.76 k:bb rate

Stults-career away from Petco:
.281/.334/.453 with a 4.59 FIP and 4.48 ERA. 2.03 k:bb rate

Stults is horrible, why we dumped Wandy for Stults and Cahill still makes no sense. Wandy isn't great but he's surely better than both of them.

He was also:
1. Better than Wandy last year (xFIP)
2. Better this year until last night.

Again, Wandy had 8 BB in 9.1 IP before last night. If we had kept him over Stults and they both had the same numbers, before last night, people here would have been declaring it the wrong decision.

Wandy pitched 26 innings last year.

Wandy can also throw a fastball above 50 MPH, something that Stults has not been able to do his entire career.

Lol....he was hurt and had 6 starts. Wandy has been a league average to slightly above average pitcher his whole career. Stults is a journeyman who was below average till he got to Petco and is 35. It was a dumb decision, not that it matters all that much but it's still dumb.

I guess the critics have to criticize something because they look stupid about all the other moves this offseason.

What the h*ll happened to Saltalamacchia?

He's the same player he always was, Marlins paid him off his big contract year in Boston. His stats last year were in line with his normal numbers, Marlins cutting bait after only 9 games and such a large amount of dead money is weird, though.

Yeah now apparently Wandy and his 8 BBs in 9.1 IP aren't all that bad.
They will end with similar numbers. That decision was pretty inconsequential.

Yup, especially because the rotation will end up being Teheran/Wood/Miller/Folty/Wisler by July 1st.

If you want to argue it's not a big deal, sobeit, you are right. If you want to argue that Stults is a better pitcher than Wandy, then you are wrong.
