Around Baseball 2015 Edition

Wandy has been a league average to slightly above average pitcher his whole career.

Which is why teams were pining for him, I guess.
Wandy has one had one good start. Even with that start, they've been similar pitchers this year. Stults is also coming off a 176 IP season and a 203 IP season. Wandy hasn't pitched 200+ since 2012. Really not that bizarre a decision. But I guess when you've got nothing else, you gotta praise Wandy Rodriguez.

Let's talk about the Heyward for Miller deal.

If you want to argue it's not a big deal, sobeit, you are right. If you want to argue that Stults is a better pitcher than Wandy, then you are wrong.

I'm not trying to argue that. All I'm saying is that Stults is not a scrub that should have made the decision a no-brainer. When was the last time Wandy proved he could be healthy? Maybe he has his first healthy season since 2012 but the Braves were concerned with eating up innings so they didn't have to prematurely call up their kids. That was the strategy and thats why Stults was picked.

He's the same player he always was, Marlins paid him off his big contract year in Boston. His stats last year were in line with his normal numbers, Marlins cutting bait after only 9 games and such a large amount of dead money is weird, though.

I guess that's the oddest part of the whole thing. They still owe him $15 million.

Based on what?
They're extremely close, and Stults is coming off 379.2 IP the last two years, and Wandy had how much? Seems like a decision that was sound and had logic to it. But I guess the FO should hire gilesfan.

Heyward will turn it around but 4 years of Miller was always worth more than 1 year of Heyward. Not even sure how that was a debate.

And oh boy, if 8 IP from last night are swaying you guys so much, then his 26.2 ML innings (and even worse 8.2 in the minors) from 2014 should mean something.

Again....I've said it doesn't matter in the long run because they are both meaningless BUT Wandy has always been the better pitcher and it's not close.

As for Shelby....he's always been great in April and May...his numbers spike in June / July / August though.

Wandys career numbers are much better than Stults. Then you factor in Stults has pitched a large portion of his innings at Petco Park, which I showed earlier, and the degree to which Wandy is better is even larger. Stults is a bad pitcher, really bad.

Don't FIP and xFIP, your holy grail when they suit you, adjust for parks?
How many IP has Wandy had the last two years? Or does health not matter suddenly?

He had better numbers in the second half last year.

His April was DREADFUL last year and his May was meh.

REACHING!

Why do we care about career stats right now? Would you bet a bunch of money on Wandy staying healthy this year? What about Stults?

Why should we base things off JUST career stats? Is Wandy that guy AT ALL anymore? Is that why he was in the minor 2 weeks ago?
Wanna compare the last two seasons? What matters more: career or very recent history?

Because Giles and I have both said Wandy has been the better pitcher over their careers and yeezus disagreed.....thought that was obvious.

LOL that is not at all what I said. Guess you gotta resort to straw man to make a point?
Seriously this is Heyward level misconception. Never once did I say Stults has had a better career. Never anything close to it.
