Shelby pitched terrible last season in April and May... he turned it on at the end of the season... what are you even talking about?

Also, BRule. When we signed Wandy you laughed. You thought he sucked and could never stay healthy.

Also? Thethe and Yeezus, Stults blows. How are you able contrary to that?

Both of you guys just come to the middle and acknowledge that neither are a good option. What a silly debate.

Actually you didn't at all... you mentioned career stats... so your whole argument was based on his rookie year and last year... only one of which he had a good beginning of the year. You said exactly "Shelby ALWAYS has a great April and May..." which is simply and obviously not true. If you would like to back track now, however... that's fine since you do it quite often. Everyone knows you just enjoy arguing and can't let Heyward go. If you don't want to acknowledge his potential, whatever... but he was the number 6 prospect in all of baseball... its not like he doesn't have the pedigree to be an ace and its not like he hasn't shown the potential before. He's on a clear swing up since last August, pitching lights out. Heyward has been on a clear swing down, but I know you have blinders on and don't care to hear the truth.

He was good in April last year, so I was off 1 month......ohhhhhhhhhh nooooooooo!!!!

The point is, everyone is freaking out and anointing Miller as a stud or whatever is dumb. It's been 1 month, If he pitches to a 4.4 ERA in June through August then what?

I hacen't tried to argue that Stults is good. I've said he was reliable innings eater and that is what the Braves wanted.

Sure. If you want a guy to finish 6 innings, but give you little chance to win then Stults is your guy.

While it's dumb to judge stats on a handful of starts at the beginning of the year, it's also even more dumb to claim Stults has been decent, average.

And just to point out, in an more offensive environment (AL), Wandy has superior numbers.

uh, yeah. didn't we talk about sample size? or is that another thing that only applies when it works for you? stults has had some good starts and some bad.

wandy has had ONE good game. before that he was in the illustrious 8 BB in 9.1 IP club. Their xFIPs are identical. If Stults is terrible, so is Wandy. Stults is a better bet to be healthy and log innings if you need them. This is all really simple.

And if Heyward's slg% continues it's downward trend, then what?

Only been two years so far, and he's only been good in April/May for one season. He was pretty dang good after July las year.

I have no idea what is so difficult to grasp. Two similarly old, washed-up pitchers; one can actually be available if you need him, the other hasn't been able to for three years. So if you need someone to eat innings, wouldn't you take the guy with the better chance to do so? This is not complicated. Wandy has more talent for sure. And if he could be relied on, he wouldn't have been in someone's minor leagues two weeks ago, he'd have been signed to start for someone long before he came to Atlanta. They both don't matter, but one is likely to be healthy while the other isn't.

Sure. Two starts where he went more than 5 innings and allowed less than 3 runs.

Three starts where he allows either 6 runs (not going to win) and 4 runs over 5 innings (not going to win) and 3 runs over 5 innings (maybe you can win if your bullpen can shut them down for 4 innings and your offense has a good night).

Stults sucks.
