So the Braves altered his swing. Might be why he isnt hitting for as high of average/power. Probably a good sign that he is doing as well as he is while learning new hitting mechanics.

Didn’t someone on this board report something similar after a combination of the eye test and talking with his father in the stands? Or am I thinking of someone else?

Anyway, sounds like his head is in the rest place. Nice interview; thanks for sharing.

I didn't talk to his Dad when he was "home" last week, but (all due respect to our more "statistically-inclined" friends), Braxton just oozes "it" - it's obviously a huge stretch to expect him to reach the same type of ceiling (of course), but watching him closely reminded me a lot of watching a young Chipper...if he can't hit it hard and do damage with it, he just spits on it. Votto is another player that comes to mind. He's just not interested in swinging at Pitchers' pitches and rolling over them to hit into weak DPs - he'd rather give the guy behind him a chance to deliver that runner.

Reminds me more of a Brandon Moss type. The raw power is there, but his big swing is going to lead to a lot k's.
