Alberto Callaspo Possibly Being Traded

The Dodgers need SP... unless we're giving them one of our good guys - we're not their partner.

Unless it was a Wisler & Peraza for Seager type deal - I doubt anything happens here

#Braves & #Dodgers were close to finalizing trade involving Callaspo & JUribe last night, as @Ken_Rosenthal reported, but not sure thing now

---

Atlanta beat writers are the only ones reporting that the trade is on the rocks. Wonder if the Braves are holding out for more (or hoping to give up less).

I think it's more likely someone in the trade who can veto it (Callaspo or maybe someone we don't know) is holding out for something. It's no unheard of for a player to want some kind of compensation to let a trade go through. You don't usually get to the point of pulling a player from the starting lineup without the parameters of the deal being agreed to.

Possibly, I just really can't imagine Callaspo's agents thinking he has that much leverage here. Take $25K and go away.

There is certainly excess to trade. Seager would be exactly the type of impact bat that this lineup needs for the future.

I'd absolutely trade anyone not named Tehearn/Miller/Folty for him. And if that player was Alex Wood then I would expect more players in return.

The slowly percolating Braves-Dodgers trade is fascinating. One would expect it's a minor deal but length of time=speculation.

Wood is not good enough on his own to get Seager, IMO.

If he were available - and I owuld really doubt he is, I'd basically be willing to trade any 2 or 3 of our prospects for him.

Sources: Callaspo rejected trade. Had right under CBA to say no to any deal before June 15 as a free agent who signed last off-season.

I'm not confident in how this works, but maybe Callaspo could ask the Dodgers for his immediate release instead of being in DFA limbo for 10 days. In this scenario, the Dodgers would not be able to trade Callaspo, but you'd think that would be a moot point.

Looks like the teams will have time to discuss this deal further. Damn Callaspo. Now he is on my **** list.

I disagree honestly. Dodgers need an impact starting pitcher and that is exactly what Wood has been so far in his career. Seager has yet to pick up a bat in a major league game. Wood has more value IMO.

I think you're crazy - but we've known that for some time.

Wood is a ticking time bomb. Seager is a potential stud bat. It would take a lot to get him. He is a consensus top 5 prospect

Who are you thinking? Seager? Guerrero?

Honestly, I thought they were a little more loaded with position prospects than they are. According to BP, their only other good position prospect is Seager, and he is pretty much a lock for SS once Rollins is gone. Guerrero isn't a minor leaguer, so while he might be a good long term answer at 3B, he doesn't really match the description of the players involved (though the descriptions have been fluid so far).

So who knows, probably just a relatively minor trade where the Braves cash in some of the veteran pieces for fringe prospects. The fact JJ didn't pitch last night is odd though. Do the Dodgers need BP help?

Addison Russel was traded for Jeff S who had less years of control left.
