GDT: 8-3-13 Braves at Phillies (BJ Activated, Jason Sits)

The Braves' magic number for clinching the NL East now down to 41. Nine straight wins. espn.go.com/mlb/standings

Atlanta is now tied for the best record in baseball. The Braves will enter Sunday with the best record in baseball with Saturday night wins from Colorado, Cincinnati, and Arizona.

I think I can explain Fredi's logic here, he is trying to bring the pitchers in an order so that each new one has a lower ERA.

Beachy 9.00

Ayala 3.45

Walden 2.43

Carpenter 1.98

Downs 1.67

Avilan 1.19

Kimbrel has a higher ERA than Avilan! So there's no logic in it! :stupid:

I don't have very high expectations for tomorrow night against Lee, though sweeping these chumps would be nice.

Main thing I'm hoping for is for Wood to give us 7-8 innings. If we lose 2-1, so be it. We won the series.

I've been lurking there most of the season. Up until recently, they had fans following and posting about almost every single Braves game in their MLB and Division Watching thread. Recently (last 2 or 3 weeks), though, they're barely talking about us. I think they've given up. This is the type of win that would've added at least one page to that thread, full of excuses and complaining about the other team rolling over and handing us the win, or about how lucky we are, etc. Today...not a peep.

When its August and your below .500 there really is no reason to discuss the division. They are barely in the wild card race much less the division right now.

do u do anything but complain...ten in a row and first place and here u are complaining about
something every thread...must be great to be u

I hardly say something about every single game. Several poor decisions were made today, and I wasn't the only one to point them out. We won, and I'm glad. So get off my back.

There comes a point where the majority of the fans will come to terms with their team's fate. What's the point in *****ing about how well the Braves do when you're out 11.5 games in August. I'm not saying it's over, but that team has to go on an amazing run before they start chatting about the Braves again.
