Around Baseball 2015 Edition

Heyward's logic is undeniable. Kershaw hasn't anything to prove Heyward he's an ace yet because he hasn't done it in the playoffs yet.

No, Kershaw really has had 2 bad starts in the playoffs lately.

Game 1 vs Stl last year, and Game 6 NLCS.

He made one bad pitch to Adams in Game 4.

For whatever damn reason, he cant figure out how to beat the Cardinals.

What are we talking about here- 5-6 starts?

We can use his last 4 years when he got 200+ IP

ERA's of 3.21, 3.37, 2.77, 2.98.

But to your question in 12 games started by Bumgarner in the playoffs his ERA is just a little over 2.

I dont see how it's crazy to say Bumgarner > Stras, but you're a Nats fan so i can see the bias.

Strasburg has only made one post season start in his career and he gave up 1 ER in 5 innings. Seems pretty unfair to hold his lack of post season success against him when he's never had a chance to actually pitch in the post season.

Well he's also only had one year of pitching 200+ IP while Bumgarner has 4.

Yes, i know he was held back one year.

SSS or not, what Bumgarner did last year in the playoffs was legendary, Game 7 neutral field, what pitcher you taking over him?

I would take Kershaw, Felix, Harvey, Sherzer, and peak Juan Cruz over him. Peak Juan Cruz was the best.

Really impressed with how the Rangers have handled Hamilton's comeback, considering his well-publicized relapse. It makes the Angels' handling of the situation—particularly the words and actions of Arte Moreno—even more despicable.

They weren't the ones who handed him over 100 million dollars.

Arte Moreno knew Hamilton's personal history very well when his organization signed him. Moreno's either a fool or a bastard to act shocked—utterly shocked—that an admitted addict admitted to a relapse.

One of the worst things you can do to a recovering addict is rip away their support structure; to do that in an attempt to weasel's out of one's own fiscal imprudence is despicable.

The fans gave Hamilton a standing ovation before his first at-bat. Then Josh promptly ripped the first pitch into the right field corner for a double.

Hopefully he can keep his act together and have more success battling his demons in a more familiar environment.

I know it's stating the obvious, but if Josh had been putting up similar numbers to what he did in Texas, we wouldn't have heard anything other than unequivocal support from Moreno and the Angels. I hope Josh jams it up the Angels' collective asses for the remainder of that contract.

Agreed, and it's a good point to add. Personally, I'm wishing the Angels nothing but failure and misery as long as the organization is under Moreno's stewardship.

I'm just saying it's easy to be in the situation that the Rangers are in when they have so little money invested in him. Angels treated Hamilton like an adult and that was apparently the wrong decision.

This sentence demonstrates a high degree of ignorance regarding addiction.

Either a fool or a bastard, and probably both.

Hamilton had relapsed in the midst of his comfortable situation in Texas. The Angels made the contract offer… the responsibility for it is on them. That they showed themselves to be graceless and classless is something apart from the fact that Hamilton showed himself to be human, and an addict.

And categorically false as well. There is nothing "adult" about bashing the guy's addiction publicly and issuing a public statement criticizing the league for not suspending your own player.

I had no issue with them moving on from Hamilton, but giving him the Bulls/Thibs treatment was ethically wrong.
