They can get a run in at the right time. I have seen very few runs score on strike outs.
I don't agree with your overall point, so don't take this the wrong way, but:
Strikeouts are considered super valuable for pitchers. The ones who strike out the most guys get huge bumps in value, and it helps their advanced stats a ton. So if strikeouts are so great for a pitcher, why are they not just as bad, the other way, for a hitter? Why does the fact that we struck out a ton the previous two seasons not matter that much to some? When it comes to certain plays, strikeouts just kill you. Sure, DPs suck, too. But putting the ball in play is certainly better, on average, than striking out. Which is why teams love a pitcher who can put guys away with a strikeout, regardless of situation.
That said, Justin is a far, far, far superior player to Jace right now. It's not close. And I'm a Jace fan.
