2015 DRAFT SIGNING THREAD

For the half-dozen fans who still haven't heard this; 34th round pick Carter Hall is son of Ga. Tech coach Danny Hall. Dad says he's moved and honored, but there will be no negotiations.

Also, 30th round pick Doug Still was drafted by the Braves last year in the 33rd round.

There's a potential gain from the Cahil move.

Really good news with some of our later picks with some $ saved early I guess. Looking back the strategy has some merit.

Man every time I see this kid's stuff I get giddy lol! How in the heck did he fall to 14?!?!

It really does get better every time you watch it.

The guy he struck out at the end there was Cornelius Randolph, who went No. 10 to Philadelphia. And he completely overpowered him.

I know and just imagine when he develops his change to keep the RH hitters off balance we're talking #1 Ace stuff!

Credit where it's due:

Gondeee (Chop County) has as signed No. 1 pick Kolby Allard. Not seen it anywhere else! Also:

1. Kolby Allard, LHP
2. Lucas Herbert, C
8. Ryan Lawlor, LHP
10. Stephen Moore, RHP
11. Grayson Jones, RHP
12. Justin Ellison, OF
14. Trey Keegan, C
15. Bradley Keller, OF
16. Trevor Belicek, LHP
17. Evan Phillips, RHP
19. Sean McLaughlin, RHP
20. Jaret Hellinger, RHP
22. Dalton Geekie, RHP
26. Ben Libuda, LHP

Just tweeted gondee to ask about that. His response...

"Their twitter accounts indicate they are members of the Atlanta Braves. So it's sort of unofficial."

Their Twitter accounts DO have pictures of them wearing Braves caps and t-shirts, but offer no other indication than that. Awfully big secret to be able to keep considering MLBTR, Callis, or others have broken all the other early-round signees and have been able to confirm them. While it looks like they want to be Braves, I don't think I'd consider those pictures as any kind of confirmation - neither has posted that they've signed.

Knowing the Braves and their history, they're waiting to come back home from the road trip to announce things in a press conference. I'm betting they have, but it's surprising that it hasn't leaked out somewhere in their area.

This was in the San Clemente paper a couple days ago:

Allard and Herbert will wait until after they graduate high school to make the flight out to Atlanta, where they will sign their contracts and prepare for the next step.

Those ceremonies are scheduled for June 19th. So we can consider them "verbally committed."

A little surpised that Minter wasn't signed under-slot . . .

Yeah, that's pretty ridiculous.

Will personally consider them signed when they sign. Sorry - we've seen too many of these things change in matters of minutes before. 18 year old kids tend to change their minds about things that are far less important hourly.

Just being a bit overly cautious, I know, but MLB doesn't consider them "signed" until they receive a copy of a contract with the players' John Hancock at the bottom - regardless of what gondee, Peter Gammons, Ken Rosenthal, Jim Callis, or anyone else says (even if they can look at the kids' Facebook or Twitter pages).

Reporting that they've signed is much more a Bill Shanks type of "scoop".

Didn't Rafael Furcal "verbally commit" to re-signing with the Braves several years ago???

I'm personally glad to see Trey Keegan signed. Need as much catcher depth as we can get and Keegan is supposed to at least be a good defensive catcher.
