NBA Thread

This team around LeBron is picking top-5 without him. He makes everyone look so much better than they are. Yes, JR Smith still isn't good, and he extraordinarily far from reliable.

I totally stand by this team around him being overall terrible.

I like Mozgov and Tristan but for the most part, yeah it isnt very good.

Did I read that Lebron has already played more minutes than Larry Bird? That's nuts.

Hes at least always in the 2nd round/conference Finals/NBA Finals since his 3rd year so hes always making deep runs.

Has made 6 NBA Finals trips, lot of minutes.

He's 30. He's so big, I can't imagine his knees holding up too much longer.
With the amazing series he's having I was just starting to like him again and then he went and made that "I'm the greatest player in the world" crack. It was totally unnecessary to the public since his play is showing us that, but it was probably just him trying to remind himself of that in the face of Curry winning the MVP.

Maybe it makes perfect sense in his mind and his world, but to me it's just a stupid thing to say, projects to the world an inferiority complex and completely ignores his teammates.

If Lebron's play wasn't MVP caliber it would be a major disappointment. With the 2nd and 3rd best players on the team out with injury, he's been put in the position to do it all himself. His stats should be inflated.

If the Cavs don't win it all his stats mean nothing. Sorry 'bout dat.

How dare you speak of him that way! He's a God and the board worships him. Especially all these all of a sudden Cavaliers fans we have here.

I cant imagine why anyone would be upset at Lebron saying he's the best in the world. I would want any athlete to think that. I wouldn't even criticize Russ if he said it.

It's really hard to play that well when you have really no one else that's better than average.

So your reasoning is LeBron is so good, that when he plays otherworldly, it doesn't really count because he's so good...got it.

they're ok. thompson has no offensive game other than o rebounds and put backs. which can be very valuable. but you can't rely on him at all. mozgov's defense was lacking big time and can really only score if LeBron sets him up for it.

Because it's arrogant and immature and if it's really true, you don't have to say it. I don't think a white player would ever say it.

I wouldn't care if I were a Warriors fan. But if I'm a Cavs fan I'd want my best player focused on the task at hand and not peacocking after his team just got beat. Who the best player in the world is doesn't even matter, obviously, since his team is down 3 games to 2. It's poor leadership on his part when the other players on his team have also elevated their game. He could've just as easily praised his team instead of making it about himself. He's obviously from the Greek tradition, thinking of individual acclaim.

I never said he was playing "otherworldly."

I'd be worried if I were Steve Kerr. The Warriors only won because Curry got crazy hot at the end of the game. The Cavs' defense was still very good.

thing about curry is, he tends to do that.
i said he was playing otherworldly (he is).
i think the "best player in the world" thing is being nitpicked. in the context of the question it was fine, it was a short statement. not like he went on and on about it.

What does a white player saying it or not saying it have to do with anything?

Lebron has praised his teammates consistently despite them being dog****. They are terrible and he's praised them non stop. I don't even like Lebron, but I can't believe sensible people (you ; not Niners and Heyward) essentially invent ways to criticize him. Do you think anything he says in the press conference is going to take away what he does on the court?

"J.R. Smith and Iman Shumpert combined for 23 points on 8-of-13 shooting when coming off passes from LeBron James. They've combined for 1 point on 0-for-11 shooting when James didn't create their shot."

Lebron scored or assisted on 70 of the teams 91 points.

You're right. Lebron is probably 10th best player in basketball. Sold.

I have never said that. I have no problem admitting he's the best player in the league. But he doesn't walk on water like you people think he does. I am a Lebron hater. I also won't deny that. He deserves every bit of criticism he gets though. He's a coward and flees the moment it gets rough.

Cleveland was his first love. But she started taking him for granted and she added a few pounds. Lebron left her for the gorgeous girl down in Miami. It was instant success, but after a few bumps along the way, Lebron knew that Miami wasn't going to work out. That relationship was getting difficult to make work, so he was keeping an eye on his first love back in Cleveland. She started losing some weight and added some top picks in the draft while he was away. The past summer Lebron realized that "damn Cleveland is hot!" He went crawling back to her.
