It's OVER 5,000!
So who is being called up?
No one, Fredi will just put back on his Laird uniform tonight if AJ gets hurt.

OK I'll be serious, Ryan Lavarnway was called up.
So who is being called up?
Didn't we just draft a handful of catchers?
C is a tough position. Few have good guys there. That is why we had such a competitive advantage with McCann, b/c it is so rare to have a guy that can hit above 7 in a good line up and not be an embarrassment on D.
CB you're hoping is an elite defensive catcher with power. Maybe he becomes a mistake hitter in the 8th spot where he can get some free walks and some HRs on hangers. But he has not been close to that. The defense has been nowhere near elite.
Hart and Co seem to think CB needs to be taught a lesson. They kept talking about not handing him the spot. It seems like the thought is that he is not putting in the work.
This is total bullcrap, we never gave him a real shot. Plus Bethancourt's 5 DRS was third in all of MLB and that's not in a lot of innings. AJ's -7 DRS is the worst in MLB.
He has never looked good at any level offensively... and he never flashed the defense he was supposed to at any level. It was bad group think... he was never an elite prospect and never deserved to be one.
Bull****. He can't hit at all and is sloppy defensively.
A player can be sloppy or lazy defensively at times and still good defensively overall. Further, I never said I liked his bat or that I see him as a starter long-term. But to be fair he still didn't get much of a shot.

If we can get Matt Wieters all of our catching problems will be over. Unfortunately, he will probably re-sign with Baltimore.
His agent is Boras, im not sure.
Supposedly the Yankees have had a boner for Wieters for awhile.
Get Mac back?
unbelievably asinine comments about him. He's a .270 career minor league player. Regardless of what you say Gov, he hasn't been clueless. He's taken time to adjust and he's done it enough. If he hit .260 AND played good defense, I'd take him. He's struggling right now..and regressed, but I hope he can salvage the talent that he does have.

Strikes out too much. walks to little, doesn't have enough power. One of those 3 things has to change. Either he needs to strike out a lot less, walk a lot more or get a massive increase in power.
Or some improvement across all three dimensions. You're right though that his combination of walk and strikeout rates and ISO doesn't cut it at the major league level.

doubt any of this happens. He may cut down on his strikeouts a little but he's never walked much at all and he doesn't hit the ball with any authority.
Absolutely nothing asinine has been said... the only asinine sentiments in this thread are people who still think he can be a serviceable MLB player. 270 in the minors with zero other peripherals is absolute garbage. And you say "if" he played good defense... he does not. His defense was so overstated it is ridiculous.
