Le Marteau de Mort.

Yep. I didnt agree with tearing the team down and the team is obviously worse (contrary to theyhe) but if you are going to rebuild go full rebuild and this is a good example of that. No lose situation (outside of $10 million).

I would love some guys that put bats in their hands to be added at some point.

Other than bullpen and rotation consistency, im not sure this team is all that much worse than last year.

Well, we wouldn't get him for $10m if he left Cuba yesterday because he's not Cuban. He's Haitian. I posted this late last night, reposting so it doesn't get buried.

Interesting article on Touki's father, (Dany, Sr.) who was one of Aristide's lieutenants, before becoming his fall guy for lots of unsavory stuff:

http://www.aristide.org/articles/ToussaintCase.htm

There's more on him heading up Haiti's Secret Service, suspicion of murder of a political opponent (not charged), drug dealing and running for President of Haiti in 2006 in between stints, believe it or not, in exile working in a convenience store in Miami. It's often hard to tell the bad guys from the good in some of these Haitian twists and turns.

Toussaint L'Ouverture was the leader of the slave revolt in 1791 that resulted in Haiti being the first free black state in the Western Hemisphere. They're descended from him.

Apparently B-Ref has Touki's name wrong, or it was changed. His given name is Dany, which might not have been a great survival strategy in some parts of Haiti - or South Florida, for that matter.

Pitching depth is unreal. Loads of long-term potential. Sims, Allard, Touki, Fried, Sanchez in the lower minors is ridiculous. Bullpen options in Hursh and Viz.

C, 3B, OF still has long-term question marks, but Ruiz and Mallex could help to solve some of that.

Overall, it's incredible the job Hart and Co. has done to rebuild the farm and maintain a competitive team at the big league level at the same time.

I wish we had more hitting prospects. Dont like the Nick deal, think this is the best he'll ever be but thats another story.

But that pitching depth is nuts.

I think the issue turns on whether you view the strong hitting with RISP and amazing pinch hitting as luck or improvement.

I'd add Briceno to the Catcher list... He is struggling now but has shown a big bat before and lots of players struggle at their first stop at a level.

Even with that, this team isnt much worse than last years and thats with a god awful bullpen thats cost them 6-10+ games at a minimum.

And no im not saying we'd be 10 games better with a capable pen but they've blown so many late leads because of the pen.

When alot of people said we'd be the worst team in baseball.
