Braves acquire RHP Touki Toussaint & Bronson Arroyo for Filthy Phil Gosselin

Interesting strategy that i like. Buying out crap and taking on money to obtain prospects. This is what u do when rebuilding.

My only question is what kind of guy could you get on the i ternational market for 10 million signing bonus?

Yoan Lopez signed for a little over $8 million and isn't as good and that doesn't take into account the penalties for signing him.

great question, but I think that Melvin is the reason we can shoot for these types of deals. Use the "savings" and go high upside prospect and add a piece you can afford some flexibility with even if they don't pan out or you have to DFA them.

International front? It'll always depend on the penalties, money be damned. Hart has put the Braves in position to be real players on the international front. That's another piece that'll have this farm top 5 very soon if we really are intent on being players again!

Wow, so the Braves went from a 25-30 farm system to a top 5 farm system and hte major league team did not get any worse than last year.

Hmm.....Posibrave reporting for duty!

Can we add this guy to the kimbrel bj deal?

To Giles question multiple authors have said is this guy leaves Cuba yesturday there is no way we get him for close to 10 million

Even the most vocal critic of the FO should see this transformation and acknowledge the improvement of the farm system.

Yep. I didnt agree with tearing the team down and the team is obviously worse (contrary to theyhe) but if you are going to rebuild go full rebuild and this is a good example of that. No lose situation (outside of $10 million).

I would love some guys that put bats in their hands to be added at some point.

Once the two bullpen arms are back from suspension this team will be better than last years.

Encouraging to see the Braves actually spend the money they saved in the Upton deal this season, rather than it just being going back into the balance sheet. And to do so in a way that has only a positive impact on the future going forward is just icing on the cake.

Do the Dbacks have any other high salary guys?

Obviously less talented, but not obviously worse. Sometimes it's better in the short run to have a less talented team that overachieves than a more talented team that underachieves. The short-term can last up to a whole season sometimes (see also: Johnson, C. circa 2013).

This doesnt hurt their international spending at all.
