2016 Presidential Primaries [ SUPER TUESDAY | 3-1-'16]

Ezra Klein noted on Twitter this morning, “If you had told me in 2004 that America would have a black president, universal health care, and gay marriage by 2015, I would have laughed.”

Paul Ryan's quote opening the article reminds me of the week Trump thought he was making hay on the birth certificate , only to learn Obama not only had the nonsensical birth certificate but also announced they got bin Laden.
That is why I had to laugh last week when a poster advanced Paul Ryan as a serious contender for POTUS.

He speaks out of turn. Like Trump

To be fair, you don't think anyone without a (D) to their name is a serious Presidential candidate

And to be even fairer, sure, if Obama moves to the right and defies his own party, he'll get legislation past and won't be a lame duck. But I didn't know the Dems are claiming victory on TPP now. Not to mention, SCOTUS ruilings have no bearing on whether or not the President is or isn't a lame duck, but I guess spin master 57 will somehow try to turn that into a knock on Paul Ryan and continue to convince himself that he's "right" on every issue.
 
Jeb and Scott Walker etc etc making sure today that no independents will vote Republican next year

I am an adult and abandoned all notions of "fair" a long time ago. Especially when it comes to political discussion and/ or choice
Having said that I gave a lot of thought to Bobby Jindal but at the end of the day -- I just couldn't do it

Me - on record only vote for myself or family member as a write in
Aces - on record depending on the person
Sav - not on record, but I have a suspicion he might go Dem anyway

Only a few on this board are staunch one side or the other.

That's very true, but people are going to remember who the President was when it happened--whether or not he had anything to do with it--far longer than they will remember the names of any of the justices on the court who participated in the decisions. I guess I have the advantage of age, but when the Warren Court (and Earl Warren was appointed by a Republican) handed down a ton of rulings in the 1960s that were perceived as liberal (and many of them tilted that way), the credit/blame fell on Democratic politicians throughout the country.

If anything, I think Republicans should be happy with these decisions however they were made because it clears the deck of some things that may have been dragging them down somewhat. Getting this stuff behind the country (especially the gay marriage issue) will put economic issues on the front burner and it's always been my estimation that Americans lean center/right on most of those issues.

PS--Earlier in the thread someone said no one really indicates their politics in here. For the record, I'm a Democrat (DFL is the label in Minnesota). Was a paid hack for a number of years. Have been a wonk/lobbyist for the past 25. I get along very well with the Republicans here. Have split my ticket a number of times. Economically left-of-center, but I realize that there is a limit on taxation. I'm more concerned about the mix of taxes in terms of progressive and regressive and worry that the country's tax structure is becoming increasingly regressive when total tax burden (federal, state, local) is calculated.

Chris Christie is announcing his bid today. That's a game changing announcement for the presidential race.
 
The last person you ever want to debate on live TV is an aggressive, loud person who knows his stuff and isn't afraid to verbally confront people.

That aggressiveness turns some people off but it attracts others.
