FG Wisler article

I think the organization blew their wad calling him up to the big club, overexposing him which will and more likely in turn diminish his value. I don't see him being anything special at the big league level, at least not as a starter, and would have had more value as trade bait for a position of need. I just don't see him materializing into anything more than a back of the rotation starter or middle relief man unless he refines his pitches and adds another secondary pitch. We should have continued to hide him in the minors, where he would have success, and still shined in the eyes of others outside of the organization and maximized his value.

I'm content to wait and see, and since I make that deal whether he's in it or not, I consider any potential upside from him as playing with house money.

Good grief. With Wisler, Peraza, Folty, etc. we have been seriously downing our own prospects lately.

Wisler has the makings of a good 3 in a very good rotation...which is all he was ever projected to be, and which is still very valuable.

How does a few starts damage his "value"? Typical overreaction and hysteria here. Wisler's still young. Obviously, the org's plans changed without Minor in the mix. Now they can do something like insert Bronson Arroyo in the rotation, and send Wisler back down to Gwinnett. Not seeing how this harmful at all.

All I can say about Wisler is that in the first inning or so he pitched he looked completely hittable, then he went on to pitch 8 innings. He looked more like I thought in game 2, hittable. I just do not see swing and miss type stuff and his location was not all that great.

You must not have seen his first start. He looked like a kid who was ready for the spotlight. You might recall that errors led to three unearned runs in his second start. I don't expect him to regress like Folty did.

Wisler's game is pitching to contact. You have to play defense behind guys like that, and the Braves usually do.
