Nikki Haley To Call For Confederate Flag To Be Removed From South Carolina Capitol:

We need more ALL parents to instill those qualities in their kids, black, white, green, blue, and otherwise.

Major League II. Knucklehead in the outfield. I play 3rd, his dad plays short and he is in either LF or LCF. Dude loses more balls than Gattis when he played the outfield. He is fast, no arm and tries to knock the ball out of the park and he is like 5'6 and 150 lbs if that. We both told him, let us grown folks muscle up, you stick to singles and with your speed mostly doubles. You can't throw him out if he pulls to 3rd or SS.

Looks like Mayes, runs like Hayes!!! I think Wesley Snipes was the better WMH, but that's just my opinion. Believe it or not when I was young and thin and athletic, I played in the OF, and especially in softball I didn't miss much of anything. I could cover (as rover) from about 2 steps to the right of CF to about 2 steps to the left of the LF. I actually had a really good softball arm too, unlike baseball, where I could just pick up a baseball and my right arm would start to throb. Go figure...

why hasn't Haley gone down there and gotten it taken down and gotten arrested?

the law is bs and some leaders should stand up to it to change it

There are very few things in this world worth getting arrested over. I haven't been, and I certainly hope I never do. Getting arrested over a flag would be supremely stupid. They may change the laws, but there is a process for that. Regardless of what they think, no one is getting hurt.

Of course I'm going to be honest and say I think the whole flag thing is stupid. I get both sides of it, but I'm still mad about the hit Democrats took in Georgia when the activist types got all fired up over the fla. It cost us state elections, and we haven't gotten back in charge since. Of course that's what happens when you pick fights over things that don't matter.

Honestly I don't really care to be honest. The only time I've ever done anything with a flag is I have gone with my grandfather when he put the confederate flag on his grandfather's grave on Confederate Memorial Day. That's mainly just respecting older relatives though. Admittedly when I was a kid I liked the Dukes of Hazard also. Apparently that's now offensive although I haven't thought it was cool since I was about 9. There is an art to ignoring things though. I pass things that I see or hear that would probably get on my nerves if I let them. Instead I just keep walking and avoid things I don't like when possible. Ignoring and not taking institutions or people seriously does just as much damage to them as pitching a fit.

A good documentary about the flag in South Carolina from about 15 years ago. Could've been made this year since nothing has changed.

CHARLESTON, S.C., July 6 (Reuters) - South Carolina lawmakers took a major step on Monday toward passing legislation to remove the Confederate battle flag that flies at the state capitol in Columbia and has long been denounced by critics as a symbol of slavery.

The bill passed a crucial second reading by a 37-3 vote in the state Senate where it faces one more vote on Tuesday before the bill is taken up by the lower House of Representatives.

The political discussion comes after numerous elected officials, including Republican Governor Nikki Haley, called for the flag's removal after the June 17 massacre of nine African-American churchgoers at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal church in Charleston.

I'm amazed at how it is impossible to NOT offend someone these days... mostly folks from the left

This from the man freaked out because all citizens have access to affordable health care
complaining because people point out civil arrogance and a social "poke a stick in the eye" symbolized by a flag that represents enslaving 30% of the population.

I think there is something wrong if you aren't offended by that

from this mornings NYT:

The south's unwillingness to accept the verdict of history on the battlefields of the Civil War - in fact not a war between states as southerners would have it but a war between some of the states and a treasonous rebellion by others who declared they were not longer states in the American Union-- continues.

It continues in the efforts by two dozen Republican legislators to prevent black people from voting. It continues in the efforts of Republican governors in 10 southern states, including especially Nikki Haley, to stand in the hospital door and deny federal help to millions of poor, often minority Americans but also poor whites in gaining health coverage and care. It goes on in every way every day throughout Republican controlled states.

It does not need a flag, it has an entire political party serving its dispute with the United States.

Interesting word choice.

And they had the access before.

Now they are just forced by the state to purchase it

Land of the free

Affordable to you ---

I have access to a house in Malibu and a new Tesla too

As with auto insurance or pay sales tax or stop at a red light

You really are still a Sophomore in college --

you just really made the point better than I.

Using your analogy where everyone is required to own a car
Owning a Tesla would be the Gold program., I think as it is everyone is required to buy the equivalent of a Honda Fit.

Pretty sure home insurance, car insurance, renters insurance, over priced/injured ballplayer insurance etc etc etc
works about the same.

Lee Bright: South Carolina State Senator Argues Against Marriage Equality at Confederate Flag Debate

Bright said the state senate needed to "make a stand" against the legalization of same-sex marriage. The senate was debating a bill that would remove the Confederate flag from Statehouse grounds.

Sen. Lee Bright: "We can rally together and talk about a flag all we want but the devil is taking control of this land and we're not stopping him!"

Home insurance isn't required. Neither is renter's insurance. Car insurance is required by the state because you need to be able to cover injuries to other drivers - I'm generally OK with that.

These are horrible examples
