Hmm, I missed his game tonight as I was watching my boy Janas pitch for Mississippi but I'll try to catch it on replay later. Do you know what his average velocity was tonight? Hopefully he does better tomorrow or next time out and is ready to help soon. He looked great when I saw him pitch for Mississippi.

Buddy of mine at the game said 92-95

He got knocked around at Rome the other day as well. Probably due to decreased velocity.

Just talked to him (he's the assistant grounds keeper at BB&T Ballpark) and he's going to send a clubbie up and find out for sure.

I noted the Rome line but didn't see it. I was excited based on the increased velocity, if his velocity is now not even what it was before that's not good.

OK thanks, I didn't mean to come across as if I didn't believe it. Just disappointing if accurate after how good he looked in Mississippi.

OK, that is much better than 92-95 mph, sounds like an average of 95-96 mph with 98 mph his high. Not as good as Mississippi but a lot less concerning IMO. Further, I just reviewed the Rome game he pitched and it seems his velocity wasn't an issue that night as announcers said he was mid-to-high 90's but his command was very much off. I also watched tonight's Gwinnett feed and no velocity was noted but I did note two of the hits were cheap, one an infield hit to short that Simmons makes certainly and another hit right at and by the first baseman (looked like more an error than hit to me). There was also an infield hit and bloop hit in the Rome game, that with the walks due to lack of consistent command did him in that night.

To sum it up, I am less concerned about him now and hope he can get back on track next time out. Hopefully with a higher average velocity and better command too.
