Kurcz traded to A's for International Slot

Really surprised Kurcz has any value. This gives the Braves enough room to officially announce the Juan Morales signing.

I believe that team's are only allowed to trade for up to 50% over their original pool, so this should wrap things up for the Braves in this signing period.

Some of these guys traded I think would eventually have g one through the rule 5 draft. We can only put so many on the 40 man roster.

So we traded Vavaro for an international slot.

Ok...

We traded Varvaro for Kurcz and basically traded him for 16 year old Venezuelan shortstop Juan Morales since that is who we're signing with that slot money.

Correction: Morales cost us 450k so I guess it isn't accurate to say this 167,000 slot paid for him. It would be more accurate to say it gave us the difference needed to cover his cost.

I am not surprised as this slot didn't have a lot of value. This was a good trade for the A's and hopefully us too in the future. I liked Kurcz and see him as someone that could turn in a Varvaro like MLB career down the road. He mainly needs to improve his control but he's still only 24 years old.

That said, yes I think that wraps it up for us this signing period. Which is a good because I cannot say I liked the price we paid for some of these slots. I didn't mind this move but overall we seemed to pay a higher cost in prospects for slots than some other teams did. But at the same time I am not saying it won't be worth it in the long run. I like our reported plans to spend a lot next year of course.

This latest trade will allow the Braves to sign Juan Morales, a 16-year-old SS from Venezuela.

Per Bowman.

Thanks, I corrected my post above as I wasn't sure how much this kid signed for. I was thinking Bowman meant it was closer to the slot value but obviously not since it was 450k. I guess we were just needing that much more to have enough for him.

Kiley McDaniel had all the bonuses well before July 2nd on his big board. I'm just glad that we just have funds for next July 2

I saw his big board but I didn't recall how much each player would sign for. I was more interested in who we were signing, etc. Hopefully next July 2 we sign all the best prospects or at least most of them. :)

This is the big board that had all the projected signings(at the time) it's been updated but he had the Braves signing Cruz, Pache And Morales

Thanks, do you happen to have any good scouting reports for Morales? I can find plenty on Cruz and Pache but not much on Morales so far.

I did find this: "Venezuelan shortstop Juan Morales (6 feet, 150 pounds) earned praise for his right handed swing and hitting ability. He’s still physically underdeveloped but he has a chance to grow into some power. Scouts were mixed on whether he would stay at shortstop but he does have a strong arm."

No prob! I only saw that same report as well and there was no video on him but if the Braves spent that much on an IFA he must be pretty good.

I think something worth noting is that we're not really only trading for money for Morales himself. We're adding money to the pool to sign these kids in part because we definitely had handshake deals with them and backing out of those deals could screw up our 2016 plans.

Welcome to the board whoever you are.

Mistah Kurcz, he gone.

Mr. Kurtz

Here's hoping Morales is not a hollow man.
