7/14/2015 MINORS THREAD TUESDAY ... Landoni's big week. Another word about Ventura

A word about Landoni, who is now 10-for-10 in his last two games and is one short of the league record (held by former Brave Matt Young) ... he seemed to have total bat control to guide balls into gaps, but this is the game guy who leads the league by grounding into 17 double plays.

Janas lost last night because of the ugliest play I've seen all year. McKirhan was in as a rehab reliever, got a two-out ground ball to third, which Ruiz tic off his glove (error one), it rolled into short left field where Kang charged it and whiffed (error two), Kang scrambled, recovered and threw the ball to the backstop (error three). Two runs scored for Chattanooga in a 4-3 win.

A word about Ventura, who still seems to be below the radar. In addition to hitting .373, he has 34 stolen bases in 28 games and Tuesday had his NINTH outfield assist. Switch-hitter from the Dominican....turned 18 on Saturday.

Hursh used in relief for the second time in three days. Allowed inherited run to score, gave up one of his own in 4-3 loss. Not impressive at all.

That was Ventura's 11th assist he mist have a pretty good arm as well.

Just wondering cause I'm not completely sure but how many innings are the GCL games...just wondering because I saw where Soroka just went two innings

They are 9 inning games, but you rarely see a rookie league pitcher get many innings.

Can't believe we released Zo - there ought to be a rule that if you sign somebody with as cool a name as Zorrilla, you can keep him as a designated pinch-runner or guy to go throw at another team's hitter in retaliation without costing you a roster spot.

I believe in GCL they do a lot of conditioning work and play the games in extremely hot weather which is why you don't see pitchers getting a lot of innings.
